Anyone Ever try GFS pups

Re: Anyone Ever try GFS pups

I got some hot overwound paf-types for my epi 335 last month. Incredibly cheap for a pair. Sent from US to me in the UK within a week. 4-conductor, they sound really great, very happy, just cannot believe what a great deal they were.
I'm sure they are inferior to a $120 pair of SD's, but for $35 the pair, they were an outstanding upgrade to my stock epi humbuckers. Big thumbs up.
I've heard others give favourable reports of the GFS puppies too.

Re: Anyone Ever try GFS pups

I have a set of GFS Fat PAFs in my Agile LP, and they're just awesome. Warm, smooth, fat, but articulate. Not to mention dirt cheap. :D

Re: Anyone Ever try GFS pups

I have a set of GFS Dream 90s (think Phat Cat) in my Epi faded SG. They sound pretty good, but not great. Of course, for what I paid they're very good, but they don't have the 3D clarity of a good Duncan or DiMarzio pickup. They're very clear, not muddy, but they don't sound full of life like real P90 or P94 or Phat Cat.

Re: Anyone Ever try GFS pups

Thanks for the replies. Thats what I needed to hear.
I'm looking to replace the single coil pups in my Highway Tele with something quiet. The original singles are very noisie.
The Duncan hotrail caught my eye for the bridge, then I found the GFS hot lead lil puncher.

I have the GFS tele 60 repro set in my Peavey (I think the stock #s are I30 and I31) They are great and about $60 for the pair. They go from twang to bang!

i also have the Dream 180s in my Agile double cut, Dream 90s in a Squier strat and vintage 59s in my sons Agile LP.

All great pickups, unbeleiveably low cost notwithstanding.

I am quickly finding GFS to be the best pickup value around

I have a GFS Lil Hot Puncher in my Kramer Classic III (Tele Shaped, takes Tele Style pups, but has a Floyd Rose)

Nice and thick with pretty good definition. I also have the modern vintage neck, which also fits the bill. Noiseless, clear, splits well and looks good:

I say go for it!

Anyone tried the GFS vintage strat sets they have on special offer? $16 for 3 pickups?! you could sell them on ebay and make a profit.
