Anyone familiar with Epiphone Les Paul color coding?

Next month I will be tearing out my stock Epiphone Les Paul pickups and most likely replacing them with either two Dimarzios or two Duncans. If I do the splice method I will need to know what Epiphone wires represent the hot and the ground.

I have no idea on this.

So if anybody has any insight on which Epiphone pickup wire represents hot and which one ground please post.

The wire going to the back of the volume pot is the ground. The other one is the hot. If there are two wires taped together those are the ones used for coil splitting and parallel.

There is a Molex connector however. I know that under normal wiring this is the case, but don't I need to know which Epiphone wire going into the Molex connector represents hot and which one ground?

I will be making a cut behind the Molex and removing the old pickup and taking the wires from the new pickup and splicing them into what remains coming out of the Molex.

If that's the case I'd just remove it, if you don't want to do that I'd assume just wiring it with the north start being the far left wire and the south finish being the far right wire, and then following that on the other pickup too. Epiphone doesn't use any system for easy pickup swapping, so there isn't any color code.

Ehh, I'd def. rip all that garbage out & put in a real harness. I've done it to all my modern Gibby's & it was an improvement in every case so I certainly wouldn't hesitate doing it to a Epi....

I don't follow. Remove the Molex? What is entailed in doing that? I've never monkeyed with this particular thing before so...

I've installed a wiring harness before but not doing a Molex modify job.

It would be easier to explain if you sent a picture, but the jist of it would be just remove the Molex unit from the guitar and solder the wires from the new pickups to were the old wires from the Molex were connected. It might help if you look at a diagram for the standard Les Paul circuit with from the company you buy the pickups from, that way the wire colors match.

Forget the specifics. I've decided to put in a new wiring assembly. The guitar is so nice that why not do the job right from the get go.

What did you use for your volume pots? I recently rewired my LP too but can seem to get Vol pots with the right taper. I tried 500K CTS audio...nope
500K RS Guitarworks superpot...nope
And now I have Gibson 300K linear pots....again nope

The super pots were definitely the smoothest but I want something that rolls off faster.
