Re: Anyone Got A Gibson C.M.???
I've seen them selling for as low as $425-$450 used!!! At that price point & with the flecked neck I figure even if I had to replace the bridge to something that can be intonated like a Schaller, it could be become a pretty awesome "Humbucker Jr" & for very little money??? Both of my current Gibson's are all Mahogany & I normally absolutely love them for it!!!
I typically really enjoy the slightly darker sound of a L.P. without a Maple cap. I find them more mid focused and it's a lot easier to get that thick, chunky, raw, Gibson tone from them without the cap (IMHO) but there have been times that I sorta missed the added treble the cap adds. Especially when I'm playing while using a decent amount of gain & through my bridge pickup.
Usually when this happens I just play my buddy's 98 Custom but it is why I started to consider one of these. I was thinking perhaps this could fill that void for me while I'm at home without me having to go drop $1000 that I don't really have on a L.P. Studio or some other model with a cap on it?
They look like something that I'd really be into but I don't think that I want to give up my 1994 40th Anniversary 54 Reissue Strat for one??? That Stratocaster is basically a physical part of me at this point & after some giving it some thought trading a guitar that I absolutely love for another one that I don't even know if I'll like seems a pretty silly...
God, living on top of a mountain in the middle of nowhere sucks!!! I really wish we had a decent music store within 200 miles of my house so I could just go try one out!!!
Maybe once I get all my ducks in a row again I'll start looking around for a lightly used one for around $500? Hopefully in the meantime I'm able to get my hands on one of them so I know what I should or shouldn't expect out of the thing & if I want one at all!!!
