If i owned that guitar it wouldn't be in it's original case, that's for sure.

I'd have it in a bomb-proof vault surrounded in 20 tons of bubblewrap, gaurded by ex-Navy SEAL's.

I don't think i could ever play that thing.

hahahahhahaha! not me man, I'd have it insured beyond belief and I'd play it. The insurance is the key part.

Actually, I don't think I could own a guitar like that and not play it. Snowy White has an old 50s goldtop and he has played the snot out of it.

Don't get me wrong, it's cool and all, but good lord...

A "jackass" who realizes that in 20 years, it'll be worth a good $200k to some old rich collector if left in great condition.

If I had the money, or even if I didn't, I'd take out a loan (if I didn't have the money), buy it, keep it safe, sell it for twice the price, pay back the loan, then keep the extra like $30k. It's an investment to me. An instrument like that, while would play amazingly, isn't worth playing if you pay that much and it'll appreciate.

Up to $72,500 and still not hit the reserve price as yet - shall we start figuring out how much it will go for?

Tell you what if we all club together and put in like a couple of hundred dollars each we could buy it and then have the guitar for ourselves. Of course we shall have to have a trustworthy person to go and collect the guitar - any takers??
