54'strat this newbie is wanting to steal one from someone. The nerve of a newbie. Don't "take it personal" if he offers you $30.

Pt.1

Hey All,

I am a newbie here:) however, I'm off to a very rough start.

If I may, I'd like to clear some things up for ya and bring some balance to this very one-sided equation. I find Fusion1's mean-spirited and egregious behavior, trying to slander me and make me out to be an idiot in front of everyone on this forum completely unwarranted as I did nothing in provacation or intentionally. All I merely did was tell Fusion1 in a PM and in so many words, that I was not interested in his used pickup that he has for sale for $60 and that I could get a BRAND-NEW one for slighty more money at $69, and in doing so I am without doubt that he has "Taken it Personally." I never insulted Fusion1,never called him anything mean, I never said that he did'nt take good care of his pickups or that he did'nt sell quality used products, I did not ask him to give me his pickup for free or say anything at all negative towards him and at the same time I'm not a mind reader so how would I know what condition he keeps his gear in, but he just pushed and shoved it all right in my face like I was supposed to know him,his gear and his means of conducting business on the web.

I am a newbie on this forum, however, I will not be victimized on this forum or out in the real world and I won't tolerate someone spreading slanderous and defamatory statements about me such as Fusion1 has taken to doing and upon himself to do so liberally.

I never said anything regarding the price of $30.00 for used Duncan Distortion pickup, nor have I asked Fusion1 or any other member on this forum to sell me a used DD pickup for $30.00. "Fusion1," took the $30 out of context of his own imperative statement- ASKING ME- if I wanted to pay $30 for the pickup. I've highlighted the remark so you can see where he took this "$30," from.

Here's what was written between Fusion1 and myself, verbatim, except for the abbreviated handles:

How much are you looking to spend? $30? All my used pickups are basically brand new, I take care of my stuff, and include all original springs/screws and box, I don't think it's fair for me to give stuff away thats like brand new. Good luck.

I think you're taking things very personally.

Actually I am not taking it personally. I am wishing you luck trying to find one for under $50 in decent shape. Sure you can find one thats all beat up missing scrfews/springs for $40 but I don't buy or sell crap like that, never would.

CONGRATULATIONS!! You've been put on my IGNORE LIST:)

Well you can see it for yourself that I never asked Fusion1 to sell me the DD pickup for $30.

Pt.2

Yes I am a newbie on this forum, however, that does'nt make me an uninformed consumer of guitar pickups and interrelated parts and gear for that matter. I've been playing and modding my own guitars for over 25 years.

As I stated in my PM to Fusion1 about the Duncan Distortion pickup, "I can get one new for $69," I'm a reasonable person, so sure and like anyone else if I could save a fair amount of cash buying a decent cond pup then I would certainly do it, that was my goal when I asked if anyone had a used DD for sale, however, saving a mere pittance of $9 off of $69(new) for a used pickup just is'nt practical. My point of view is why spend the $9 difference for a used pickup and go through the inconvienience associated with an over the internet sales transaction; paying the shipping cost and/or insurance, having to wait for the pickup to ship to my door, setting up payment or mailing a check and waiting for it to clear, etc. etc. etc. The whole transaction could take weeks and weeks and the hassle involved just would'nt be worth it to save 9 whole dollars and at that getting a used pickup for all my trouble:smack: . When I can take the 60 bucks I would have spent; add $9 more, take 10 minutes out of my day, walk down to Guitar Center which is 5 blocks from my house, pay for the pickup and have the pickup right then and there, get a receipt and have it installed in my guitar 15 minutes after I get home and be wailing all day and night on the same day I paid for the pickup. I'd also have the option to try the pup out and if for any reason at all that I don't like it, I then can take advantage of Seymour Duncan's outstanding "21 Day Real World Exchange Policy," which I could never get to do if I bought the pup used from ANYONE on the net. Like I said,I'm a reasonable person and if I could save a fair amount of cash buying a decent condition used DD pup then I would ceratinly do it,however, saving a mere $9 to go through all the :bsflag:

I apologize for the loooooong rant, however, I had to stand up for myself. I hope that I set the record straight cause I'm here to make friends and learn as much as I can from you guys:usa2:

Thanks :)

I could sense a little tension there. Very well written out I must say. Welcome to the forum and I hope it all works out and you hang around. We could use more 25yr players opinions

Re: Anyone have a bridge SH-6 DD for sale???

And Ghostrider since you have me on "ignore" you won't realize my $60 price on a "used" pickup isn't that bad considering it was taken out of the box and installed for a short time, the lead is full length, no scratches etc., yet I still call it used. I call that a deal as that is the kind of pickups I usually want to buy, slightly used pickups for a slightly less than new price. Once again nothing personal but your attitude could use a little work, ignoring someone for suggesting you are lowballing...

For the $69 new price you aren't factoring shipping and tax. So you'd be lucky to get that pickup for less than $79 ($4.80 tax, shipping $5.00). So the out the door price of $79 versus $60 for a like new pickup with everything a new pickup has other than it was installed once and the seal on the box was broken is the same.

You never explained fully why I was put on the ignore list... Do tell...

Ghostrider you never mentioned what you are willing to pay, which is where my $30 estimation came in, since my $60 shipped price was too high for you.

Re: Anyone have a bridge SH-6 DD for sale???

I personally think that the new forumite hasn't done wrong at all.

I've bought Duncans under $60 that were unused/unopened. The seller takes the devaluation once it leaves the store.

Brother fusion should let it go.

Re: Anyone have a bridge SH-6 DD for sale???

Welcome to the forum Ghostrider. You'll find a lot of good people here, and we need all the experienced players/members we can get. Extra knowledge is great to have and share. It just sounds like a misunderstanding.

Re: Anyone have a bridge SH-6 DD for sale???

Yep, looks like a misunderstanding to me as well. Lets move on.

Re: Anyone have a bridge SH-6 DD for sale???

Thank You! to those who showed support, I appreciate it!! The matter is under the bridge as far as I'm concerned.

Well I guess that fate has taken over driving my Karma on the DD pickup issue. I just found out that my bandmate is going to work for Guitar Center and he let me know that he would get me a brand-new Duncan Distortion for some $15-$20 off the retail cost. It's nice to have connections with friends in the music biz. Now if I can get my friend Jeff to sell me one of his new Schecter Signature 7-strings that he has coming out on the market soon for a reasonable price, then I'd say I'd be off to a great start for the New Year, well as far as gear goes. I'm not ashamed to admit that I constantly have horrific bouts of G.A.S. :D
