Anyone have a guitar they regret not playing?

I haven't played bass in quite a long time, and one of mine is especially sad to see sit unused. I won't get rid of it, though...

It's the front one. A Reverend USA 5L. It's an amazing bass, and I really like it. It just doesn't get used enough. I even have it's tuxedo case.

My '78 BC Rich Mockingbird. It needs the lil onboard electronics reconnected/replaced.

Re: Anyone have a guitar they regret not playing?

Not really. They all get thrown in the rotation.

Re: Anyone have a guitar they regret not playing?

I have a beautiful Hamer USA Studio Custom made in 2004 that I fitted with a 59/Jazz neck pickup and a 59/Custom in the bridge, and also real pearl tuner buttons. It sounds great but i rarely play it. I'll never sell it and it's probably the best-built guitar i've ever owned. I seem to gravitate to my other guitars because several of them have long and/or deep and meaningful histories with me.

I've even thought about storing the Hamer in another location, so that should i ever lose all my stuff, I'd always have a great instrument stored elsewhere. The times that i do play it, i am always stunned at how good it is and what a quality instrument it is. It's a strange relationship, but it always gives me great comfort knowing it's there.

I'm a Hamer nut and only have a Studio but have always coveted a Studio Custom with all of it's binding and inlay bling. Interesting about the hybrids you installed... very interesting indeed.

I have a pair of Ovation Elite Customs I never get the chance to play. In fact all of my steel string acoustics sit unplayed because of my recent fascination with Bossa Nova and my new Tak C-132S arrival.

Wish I could. I only play at church, and I'm the only regular electric guitarist.

Not with the Sisters anymore?

Re: Anyone have a guitar they regret not playing?

Every day, I regret not playing the Les Paul I have yet to be able to afford.

Re: Anyone have a guitar they regret not playing?

Yes, my very first guitar, an MiM Strat that I bought new in December 2000.
She was my only guitar for up to late 2008 and understandably the one played the most out of all that I own (or have ever owned) but now the frets are almost flush with the board and even after 12 years I've never gotten used to the FAT Fender C neck.

I have contemplated between refretting or getting her a new neck but since the neck and body are the only things left from the original guitar (every single piece of hardware has been swapped and since I got her I have built not one but two completely new pickguards!) so I never seem to get to a decision...

Re: Anyone have a guitar they regret not playing?

My first love, Rosalie. A Czech made 2000 Epiphone Les Paul Standard, with the JB/Jazz combo. Sounds amazing, but something's wrong with her. Only makes an angry buzzing sound when plugged in. I guess it's either the cheap pots (yeah, didn't want to splurge too much on my first electronics upgrade), or original switch or jack acting up, or some ground problem. Gonna buy a complete electronics (except pups) set and replace it all. Should hopefully fix the problem.
She's a beauty tho.
It doesn't show too well in the photo, but she got one of the best flame maple tops I've seen on an Epi LP Standard.

Re: Anyone have a guitar they regret not playing?

I only have one guitar for each tuning. When they're all set up the same with the same pups and the same electronics (SH-6 neck and bridge), then I tend to not worry about the different sounds of each one. I have a couple hollowbodies with 59's that I have set up for jazz and blues that I tune to EADGCF (like Stanley Jordan), but other than that, I don't intentionally use more than one guitar more than the others. It's just what tuning is needed.

Re: Anyone have a guitar they regret not playing?

Experience in the music business has shown me that all you really need is a reliable, versatile guitar that you are accustomed to. A guitar so good, you won't need a backup.

Definitely not with them anymore. They pulled some drama stuff, and I took off. Glad to not be with them anymore.

Re: Anyone have a guitar they regret not playing?

i regret that any of mine haven't been seeing the kind of playing they should have in the last few weeks. between being busy, the tendonitis in my elbow acting up, and generally feeling like i've been hit by truck otherwise, i think i've only gotten like 45min of play time in over the past month, all on bass.

i only own four axes though, so when i'm keeping at it, none of them sit without play for very long.
