Anyone have a headphone amplifier they like?

Perfect in every way just sayin.

Kind sir, I would like to thank you, for providing me the response of Rockman. While I was around when it was invented, and played my first one in high school, and many versions since then, I am so glad that you provided me with the images of it. I specifically requested that no Rockman content be provided. But I defer to your great wisdom and judgement that what I needed was not, in fact what I wanted. Many people would refer to you as "ignorant" or a "troll" or "$#!t poster" but I don't see it that way. I might suggest illiterate, but obviously you can type, so that is out too.

And I also appreciate your brevity. So to the point! No messy time asking me why I didn't want a Rockman. Just plain and simple telling me like it is!

And with pictures...just whet my appetite for this little slice of Scholz heaven!

So again - so considerate, I kindly thank you again, for your opinion.

Says the man who once denounced 'incoming NGD' but then couldn't help himself and proceeded to post incoming NGD of his own.

Rockmans are going for $1500??! Time to sell.

I picked up 4 not too long ago for under $500 each (one was $200 and change), a couple were in the original boxes and still had the original headphones and paperwork; two had SRD power supplies included. $230-$480 is not so bad when you consider the original price when new was around $349 in 1980’s money and they aren’t made any more.

But I get Aces deal - there are multiple solutions available now that actually sound like big amps. Vox, Line6, Pocket Rokit, etc.

I didn't want a Rockman because it is way big. Wanted something small for travel.

4 inch x 6 inch is "way big" ?
The whole reason the Rockman was designed was for something "small to travel".
Gotta say man you're confusing at best.

I get what he is throwing down. When you have tools, strings, tuners, and a host of other stuff in your gig bag something the size of a Rockman would take up a lot of room. With the headphones, it would occupy the top pocket with little room for anything else. The VOX packs a punch and will slide in the bag even if it is packed.

If Aceman was only playing with the headphone amp at home I don't think it would be an issue. He is a gigging musician and space in the gig bag is of a premium. You can't bring the whole house with you.

This was a travel on a plane situation.

Have I mentioned I love the Vox? And again, thank you all who let me in on all the various flavors!

Highly recommend.

No offense but we pay our own internet bill and you have no magical powers over what i post.
Even if you want a Rockman good luck finding one at the moment they're going for $1500.
I had an Arion Hott Watt a couple diferent times and even tho its not Tom Scholz caliber its an interesting gadget.

I bought mine back in 1987, in Massachusetts at Daddy's Used Junky Music Store.

The Arion Hot Watt 2 is awesome.
I blends well plugged into the front end of an amp, much better than my Ibanez Tube Sceamer.

Which Daddy's? I shopped in Salem, NH and Boston Mass Ave a lot. I went to the Burington MA, Manchester, NH and Nashua NH stores also every once in a while.

The one in Salem.
I was looking for a Rockman because I needed a headphone amp to play with in the Hotel room. They were out and the guy behind the counter recommended the Hot Watt 2 and it was a great choice.

I used to love ordering from Daddy's , Hirsch Gardener was the coolest salesman there !!!!
Too bad that they are out of business now.

Even though I'm out here in California, I did all my buying from them in the 1990's, much better service than Reverb or Ebay!!!!

Well, I have found out the battery life of this cool little tool. I have been doing a crap ton of late night playing though...

Love Hirsch! The last time I saw him was at the Boston store. He stayed on when GC bought out Daddys. I think he is still there. He is a pretty solid drummer

um playing what ?

Are you saying you ran out & bought a Hott Watt ?

JMP - that's a great question! I happened to answer it in the first ten posts, but I'll post here again, just for you, because you asked, and were sooo helpful with the Rockman recommendation.

Just got the Vox Classic Rock. Thanks! Didn't know they had all those versions!!!

I found that the ability to just wrap small earbuds around it, the what must be > 6hrs battery life, and using only two AA batteries made it a fantastic choice, along with the Aux in. Did I mention it has 3 - counter three! Chorus, delay and reverb settings for a nice range of ambience? The gain range on the amp is more than adequate unless you want the brutalz.

So again - thank you so so much for the rock man recommendation, even though it didn't meet any of my wants/needs (Not to sound just like just Boston, as small as possible, less batteries, longer play time on battery, no need for external guitar cable, decent range of effects - that don't just sound like Boston, And cheap)

Keep those awesome recommendations coming man. I'm listening!!!!

Also, keep on top of new stuff coming out this weekend...it is NAMM, so many companies are announcing new gear.

Back in 1998, I bought an Ovation 12 string and some one in the warehouse, sold it to someone else, Hirsch was on the phone with me , B'sing , as he scrolled through the computer screen looking for an equivalent to the Ovation.
We talked about his time that he spent with New England and about Vinnie Vincent.

He found a better 12 string Ovation and threw in a case on top of all that !!!!

I hope Hirsch is doing well and happy
