At least its being sold for about the right money though.

Those 'I know its not a real Fender but playing dumb' people always add in something like 'This was my uncle's who passed on', or like this one 'I got it in trade' to try and make you think they are innocent of passing on a fake.

I ran into a similar situation where I needed to verify that a guitar was a genuine Custom Shop Fender. I ended up sending pictures to Fender customer service and explained the situation, and the customer service rep was nice enough to forward the pictures to the custom shop so the builders could verify the authenticity.

Well, pretty much everything from the logo downward.

Strat-Talk forum is a good one to visit.....the threads there go through the details of spotting fakes.

The tremblock looks pretty small and the amount of holes in the neck pocket makes me think it's not a fender.

The listing is no longer there, but when I looked before both of the headstock logos looked 'off'. The Fender one on the front was the wrong color, and the Custom Shop logo on the back was the wrong size. Also the suspect trem block and neck pocket holes as others have pointed out.

Thanks....I’ve never really been a “Fender” guy. A lot of the things that would get faked would probably slip right past me.
Once the neck was pointed out, that was pretty obvious but I probably wouldn’t have spotted a phony logo without someone telling me what to look for.
I really should know better at this point! Lol
