Anyone here use a Fostex MR-8?

I've been thinking for awhile about getting something to record with. I would like it to be able to work with my computer as well as by itself. I don't want something too expensive or elaborate, but rather something that I can record a few guitar tracks with and maybe down the road become useful if I'm in a band. I was looking a the Fostex MR-8. Anyone here try/use one of these? Here's a link from MF site:

Sounds like you get a good amount of stuff for a $300 package. Is it worth getting? Also, anyone know if GC or Sam Ash carry these? I'd like to check it out before I would think about purchasing it.

Thanks,
Tom

I don't use it but a good friend does. Sound quality and ease of use are both very good but he hates, and I mean hates the memory cards. Too small for him and he constantly has to dump them to make room for more recording time.

I got a bigger memory card and it works great. USe a usb and put it on your computer. But once it is there you cannot remix it. Get a cheap program for your computer that has multi tracks. Record a track at a time and then you have it all.

My friend has it and we recorded our band using it. Pretty good, records two tracks at a time. I would agree buying a bigger flash card for it, but they are getting pretty cheap so no biggie.
