Anyone here use an E-Bow?

Hey guys.

I was helping to Engineer a recording session a few weeks ago and 1 of the guitarists played a part using an E-Bow and I thought it sounded kinda cool.

I might pick one up if I find 1 for cheap enough :D

Does anyone here use 1? What other tricks/sounds can you make with it other than infinite sustain?

Thanx for any info guys.

I have one. I can't do anything else with it except get "infinate sustain". :laugh2:

I don't have the touch...or the interest I guess.

Phil Keagy gets a great tone with the E Bow.

I got one I mess around with occasionally. They're cool to get violin/cello type noises out of the guitar with. I've recorded a couple of songs with mine. If you clip on my songs/riffs link below I have a song just titled "ebow and voice box"...lol. I also use the ebow on Heavy Riff 4 starting at about the 2 minute mark until the solo.

Jolly, I'm just downloading the clips now. So I'll have a listen probably later or tomorrow ;)...........

Well i know it has a setting where it gives you harmonics like mad, and just a regular setting for sustain. I wish i could get ahold of one, always thought they sounded cool.

I don't have one, but my guitar teacher does. It's pretty cool for getting string synths and infinite sustain. They don't sound completely real (having played violin for years I can tell the difference) but it's pretty convincing. Work fairly well on bass too.

Re: Anyone here use an E-Bow?

The EBow is a one trick pony really..... infinite sustain or infinite sustain with added harmonics. But hell they look cool.

Re: Anyone here use an E-Bow?

i use mine all the time. It sounds awesome with a looping pedal, some delay and the tone knob on 0. I do all kinds of funky things with mine. Never do a gig without it anymore.

If I can pick 1 up relatively cheaply then I will do, then it doesn't matter if I don't use it all that much :D

TO's got one afaik, I'm pretty sure he used it on a jam over one of my tracks a while back

Re: Anyone here use an E-Bow?

I'm reluctant to say, 'cause it's kind of a secret weapon! :) It is a really cool device. You can get some great almost flute sounds or cool analog synth type pads. Follow the instructions and use your neck pickup with the tone turned all the way down. I've used it on a few things and people have no idea what they are hearing (in a good way!).

Re: Anyone here use an E-Bow?

I use it all the time. I don't really try to make my guitar sound like another instrument with it, though. I want it to sound like a guitar - just an e-bowed one. :)

I really like it. If you go to this link and download the track "Life under the Sun" you'll hear an e-bow break after the first verse.

I've gotta disagree with ya there. There's alot of things you can do with them if you take the time to learn. As psy stated, go to their website and listen to the samples.
