Anyone know anything about the Marshall/Celestion Speakers in some Marshall cabs?

Re: Anyone know anything about the Marshall/Celestion Speakers in some Marshall cabs?

No … but I know a book by a man who does!

Pics of the magnet/dust cover labels and any numbers on the basket would help.

Usually, the legend Marshall/Celestion indicates a design commissioned by Marshall to their specifications. e.g. The G12 Gold from the Thirtieth Anniversary series combo and extension cabinet.

If the label has "Marshall International" anywhere on it but does not read, Made In England, then it is an import. (I'm in the UK.) My inclination would be to replace ASAP.

EDIT - On second thoughts, don't bother. The MG series cabinets are built from particle board. IMO, this renders the quality of the loudspeakers within immaterial.

Yeah MG cabs are......subpar.

Speakers are beyond subpar..Rocket 50s or Marshall re-labeling of the same.

Damn shame. The guy was planning on buying my buddy's modded Peavy 6505+ too til he was surprised with this and the MGhdfx head as an early Christmas gift from his father. I told him he can and still get the Peavy too but he said no thanks. Oh well, whatever satisfies him I guess.

Rocket 50's are really not that bad as speakesr go. Considering the current prices of Vintage 30's and the like, Rocket 50's are a bargain. I have some in a vintage Carvin 4x12" and they sound great!
