Anyone know approx weight of a Fender Type Neck?

I am trying to assess if a warmoth partscaster would be an appropriate route for me (have back issues) but am having a difficult time assessing what final weight would be. The body I am looking at is about 3 lbs 15 oz. Tyring to get a ballpark on what the whole guitar would weigh.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Marc

Re: Anyone know approx weight of a Fender Type Neck?

I can tell you that a 4 pound body is fine. I don't know the weight of a neck, but I know that pretty much anything between 2 and 4 is good. 2 is light, 4 is on the heavier side, but it's not yet into "too heavy," that's more like 5 lbs.

I am shooting from the hip here, based on reading a thousand build threads on TDPRI.

I hope that helps some.

Cliffs: 4 lbs is fine.

Thanks for the help. I am trying to come in at about 7 lbs, which I think may be hard to do....

Use 'vintage style' tuners like Klusons or Kluson-alikes rather than sealed, cast housing ones. There is a significant weight difference as well as the sonic difference.

BTW, use a neck with a single-action truss rod, not a dual-action one. The single is lighter and will have more of the traditional Strat tone.

If you are going the warmoth route I believe that they can weight relieve/chamber a strat body. It may be an option to look into.
