so trying to finish up afew projects, and I have my "main" guitar project that is hopefully going to be the guitar I play every night when I get a new band going.. Right now the idea is to have a OFR with tremol-no having it in Hardtail or Dive-only mode..
But I have some weariness about it, as the last time I had a floyd guitar (granted; Agile Interceptor with LFR and no tremol-no), I had issues with tuning stability when I played afew shows, to the point I went back to my 6 strings for awhile.. It would never stay in tune, despite being set up fairly well, it was mainly taking it from home to a venue, in a gigbag with the Canadian winter that I think wasnt friendly to it..
Of course, with a tremol-no and better trem/overall guitar, Im hoping the tuning wont be such an issue, but it still somewhat concerns me, esp the idea of breaking a string and having my whole trem go out of whack (Although the tremol-no is suppose to fix that and keep it still in tune, no?)
I do plan on bringing my beater backup once I start playing more shows, esp if I am playing my baby as the main guitar, but still kinda concerned about a floyd, instead of maybe getting a Hipshot Tremolo or something (although if I stay with Carvin for this guitar, thats not an option obviously)
Anyways, Who plays/tours with a Floyd'd guitar often? Can you speak on the stability/your experiences with it? Do you bring a backup guitar?
Thanks,
Edit: Forgot to mention; Although I dont "abuse" it, I do small dips occasionally and I plan on doing some coverband stuff hopefully someday soon, so I dont think hardtail will work for me. The tremol-no in "Dive-only" mode is what I think it will be in mostly. I never dug those kinda hardtails either, much prefer feel of a Trem under my arm.
