I'm a pretty sure it's a Duncan from early 80's but I don't remember what model it is. The poles are larger than most and non adjustable.

Also are old pickups worth more/less/same as a newer pickup?
I'm reducing old stock that I have had boxed for years. Also have a DiMarzio SDS-1 probably from the first year they were made (around 1978)
Anyone know what they would be worth?
Thanks

Welcome to the forum. I hope you stick around.

I don't know what it is, but I'm pretty positive it's not a Seymour Duncan. Seymour never used ceramic magnets underneath big steel pole pieces like that. In fact, he doesn't like that design.

Some old pickups can be collectible, PAFs being the most notable example, but also old pre-CBS Fender pickups and many more including weird Teisco pickups. And perhaps a pickup like that might be collectible some day but IMO that day hasn't yet arrived.

The bobbin is only half filled. That probably makes it a cheap asian one The bar magnet tends to come with cheap pickups, also.
It probably sounds thin and lacks volume, just like the ones I pulled out of a cheap chinese made strat copy. Made just like that.

I've never seen a Duncan like that...looks like an import and not a Duncan to me. And the poor fellow has a very short tail ;)

Re: anyone know what this pickup is?

Gotta wonder why it has four soldering eyelets?

Four eyelets suggests either dual coils or start, tap, finish, screen.

The white, red, bare output cable implies high resistance single coil with tapping.

The amount of coil filling that bobbin makes this possibility highly unlikely.
More like a universally used bobbin wound with a single coil and half a bobbin full at that.

I seem to remember a bottom loaded 1/4 pole pickup from Artec?
