the white jackson proto with the DD/jazz set?
i can only guess but is sounds like he used it on revelation, his solo, and believer?

I thought the pickups on his V's were dimarzios? Or at least another pickup with hex head style poles? Mighty Mite maybe? The poles look to me like hex heads.

The polka dot Karl Sandoval V had a Dimarzio PAF neck and Superdistortion bridge. You can hear on the Tribute CD the difference in tone when he use his stock Les Paul compared to the V- the Les Paul is much clearer like on Crazy Train. The V has a chainsaw tone heard on suicide solution.

On the second album he used the Jacksons more, and you can hear the buzzsaw tone on songs like Over the Mountain

I dug out my Guitar World from when the RR tribute album realeased and the black polka dot V had a Dimarzio distortion and a PAF.

Yeah, you can really hear the differences between guitars from some of his earlier taped shows.

The Les Paul is a bit clearer, but the V is definitely the fattest....the tone on some of the live Suicide Solutions is just massive IMO.


I didn't care for the tones coming out of the Jacksons on the songs he supposedly used them on live.

With the MXR distortion, and graphic EQ he used his tone is far from natural. His playing is what made him great not his tone.

Like Deansweden posted Randy used the white Jackson for the tunes in Eb but I don`t think he ever used the black Jackson live. All of the "Diary" album was in Eb and from what Oz has said in interviews was recorded at the same time as Blizzard. I`m wondering if he tuned his Les Paul and polka dot V to Eb for some of those tunes.
