I think this might look cool as hell on my Faded V... making it look like a 1971 medallion..

could I buy them somewhere?
have someone make one for me somewhere?
I mean I'm pretty crafty but.....

Try a trophy shop or sign maker. They usually make plaques and such for awards very similar.

its currently wearing this strap, I think it is close enough for me.

I would say that if you watch eBay long enough, eventually one will pop up. There is a seller there that deals in Gibson stuff. (Gibsondependable) I would contact folks like that in case they come across one. My guess is if you are persistent enough you will eventually bump into one.

That strap will also work very well.

Are you going to get the medallion and put some chrome covers on the pickups?

I have that strap and it looks AWESOME with my silver burst explorer.

And 80's_Metal, holy crap your V is hot. Nickel pup covers along with the medallion would look awesome.

Adding irreversible stuff to a guitar is usually kinda tacky and kills it's future value. I think it looks perfect the way it is. I love the strap as a nod to KK.

The only thing I'd do to that guitar if I owned it would be to install a perfectly cut and polished bone nut in place of the white plastic one. The guitar will play and sound better. Something magical happens to a guitar when you do that.

I like the idea. I also like the idea of being the last one to own your guitar in its current (or playable) state. EFF the resale.
