Anyone like Schecter necks?

In my opinion, Schecter necks are the WORST necks I have ever played. Just unbearable to play on. I can't remember a time when I haven't gotten cramps on my thumb from playing a Schecter. The necks are Small (42mm nut), Thick (but not comfortable), and the fretboard just feels plain wrong! I'm still not used to it after seven months! I compared my guitar with a les paul and the Les paul's neck was WAY more comfortable and enjoyable to play on. It just felt smoother and "RIGHT". Schecter guitars do sound awesome though....I'll give them that. But recently they introduced a new line of guitars with thinner/faster necks. So I can't wait to try em out! ...They look awesome as well!

I guess it depends on what model you have. I have three Schecters. Two of them have necks and fingerboards that I would compare to playing one of my Gibson Les Paul Classics. The other one has a thinner neck, but it still plays great.

well i'm in love with my schecter (c-1 classic from '06) the only thing i've liked as much was a gibson explorer and an ltd viper. it's a matter of taste, i can't stand ibanez and jackson necks.

I have my friend's damien 6, and it has a fat ass les paul style neck. I dont prefer it, but i wouldnt say it's crap.

I've always liked them well enough. But I have played a couple of their seven-string guitars on which I haven't gotten along with the neck shape. I think it has as much to do with my short fingers and thick hands as anything else.

I hate almost everything about American Schecter guitars...

There's not one model that they make that another company doesn't make better, cheaper, and with less stupid abalone...

I don't mind them. If i'm in a bind and need a guitar and someone has a schecter lying around, I won't say no. But I find their necks WAY too fat. Considering they're supposed to be metal guitars (a lot of them anyway), you'd think that they'd design some thin/fast necks to play on, or at least a good middle point between a thick toneful neck and a thin/fast easy to play neck. Instead they just went for thickness without playability.

I've got short stubby fingers but I have no complaints at all about my Schecter's neck (2007 C1 Hellraiser). I actually love it. It's become my #1 guitar. Great tone (with a pair of P-Rails) and playability. I'm not a shredder so I don't need or want a super thin neck.

I have a 007 Blackjack and the neck shape is good for me. In fact, it reminds me of the neck on a Hamer FM Special I use to own.

The frets on the Schecter, though, are inferior in my opinion ... too low and of questionable quality.

The frets on my Hellraiser are monsters (I love them) and are finished superbly, not inferior at all.

I have a Hellraiser Tempest and i'm currently trying to sell/trade it to get something with a thinner neck... I don't know if it is thinner on C-1 models, but on my Tempest it is so huge, but it is clearly not the worst necks IMO. I find it hard to play fast riffs that requires finger stretching. The guitar is so well made overall, you can't spit on these axes.

that's the thing with shecters. They're really well made guitars, even if they're covered in abalone, have tree trunks for necks and have volume knobs mounted practically on the pickups themselves.

Aside from that, they play great, sound pretty good (make that great, when Seymour helps out a bit), and are well constructed.

I'm going to agree on the worst necks ever point - so thick but more than anything they are sticky, you cannot play for more than 5 mins before that poly clearcoat feels like it has turned into super glue and changing chord positions or doing any single string metal riffs become so much harder than they need to be. I generally hate thicker necks, but gibson necks at least don't have that horrid level of stickiness and the spacing isn't as damn narrow

I've got a seven string Hellraiser, the top of the line Korean model.

I've had some difficulties adjusting to the neck but I suppose it's to be expected as it's my first seven string guitar. I like it that it's chunky, it's just strange that it's so wide.

I do agree that the guitars could do with a little less abalone. But the features and construction quality come at a price point that's sometimes hard to beat.
