Anyone like the Ibanez AR250 ?

I can get one [black model] at a fairly decent price (brand new / fairly decent = for over here).

I never see anyone talk about these Ibanez models.
Why no love for these then ?

I will use the guitar instead of a Les Paul.

Any info on these will be very welcome.

thanks

Take my opinion with a grain of salt, because I'm a bit of a fanboi when it comes to Ibanez.

Whole lotta love, here. Those are great guitars. A really classic Ibanez design. IMO. They are solid (and heavy!) and I love the set neck and the smooth heel shape. Sustain monsters be here!

Here is my 1981 AR400 (?) which was "built by the proud craftsmen of Ibanez, Japan." It is one of the best guitars in my rather extensive Ibanez collection.

Re: Anyone like the Ibanez AR250 ?

I have a bunch of old Japanese Ibby's dating from '78 to '83, including an Artist CS1500. The old one's are untouchable, just great, great guitars. The Korean ones are considered to be pretty good, though I don't own one the couple of Koreans I have played were nice enough. I played one of the new Chinese ones (AR420) Saturday at the store and you can throw those right into the dumpster. I've never experienced such an awful fret job on any guitar, the ends were sharp enough that they cut my fingers. It looked like an Artist, but thats where it ends, damn well didn't feel like one. I was really hoping these would be good as I was gassing for the bubinga top model. Ibanez has sullied the Artist rep with this one. Chinese=avoid it. Korean=pretty good, you'll probably be happy. Japanese=do what you have to do to buy it, you'll not regret it.

The MIJ ones highly regarded: good top fret access and coil splits, beefy construction and tone, what's not to like?

Dr. Veg, you need to do a thread showing all those lovely Ibbies.

MIJ artist are GR8T! super 88 pups, sweet tone, playable neck.

Think more that Jazz guitar!

The guitar on the right is my mid-80s AM75 that I've modded and love to death. The double-locking whammy bar came stock.

Re: Anyone like the Ibanez AR250 ?

I own 2 1983 AR-30's and 1 1981 AR-50 and the two '30s have been my main go to guitars. The AR-50 stays in it's factory case and only played at home. Can't say enough about Ibanez Artists. Beautiful 250 btw. Ist it a Korean model? Little envious. :33:
