Anyone like the strat bridge pickup by itself with the "stock" wiring?

Re: Anyone like the strat bridge pickup by itself with the "stock" wiring?

Altough I like the no-load and have it myself, that thing alone won't make the pup sound better. It opens up the gain just a hair and brightens up, but still doesn't change the character.
I'm a sucker for humbucker sound, but I like the SSS conf. So what I often do I get a new bridge pup, possibly a single-coil sized humbucker, and put the stock bridge in neck position and ditch the neck pup completely. Beefs any Strat up with a cost of a single pickup.

I've had the tone control wired to the bridge since before I was drinking age.

I'm fine with stock wiring as long as the bridge pup is at least a bit (or more) beefier than what is normal for the bridge of a Strat.

I don't own a strat (yet...) but can't you wire both the bridge and neck to one tone pot seeing as neither will ever be on at the same time (using standard wiring) that way the same tone can be used in positions 1,2,4 and 5
