ANyone out there using Jazz n/ Custom b?

I had both those bridge pickups in my Les Paul. The Custom sounds (in my guitar anyway) like Angus on Steroids, it is crunchy with decent mids and is a little stiff if that makes sense. The Custom 5 was a smoother sounding pickup with more low end and a bright high end, the mids were there but did not overpower the tone. I would say that to my ears the Custom-5 would probably be the better lead/soloing pickup, the Custom while having more mids seemed a little cold sounding. These are my experiences with these pickups, others may have more info for you.

My vote is for the C-5/Jazz. They're both A5, and the versatility you'll have from clean to high gain will be the best with that combo. To me, it makes even more sense than the JB/Jazz. If you use cleans less, and highgain almost all the time, the Custom/59 would be a good consideration.

I use the Custom/Jazz and I love it! I have also used the C5/jazz and thats a great combo also. I would say that it depends on your guitar, if it is darker go for the C5, if it is neutral or a bit bright go for the Custom. For me the Custom edges out the C5 unless its a dark axe!.

I used to use that combo; it's the only Duncan set I've ever been happy with! I prefer the neck a little hotter, though.
I've tried the C5, and it just sounded scooped to my ears. Didn't like it much at all after the honeymoon period.

I have the Jazz/Custom in my Schecter and absolutely love it. It's just plain perfect for strait up rock. I agree that the tone can be a little cold with the Custom, but the crunchyness is insane! Never used the C5, but I've got a CC in my Warmoth. It's a great pickup in it's own right, but it can't tuch the Custom for rock tones.

Well, the neck pup on my Warmoth (with the CC bridge) is an Alnico II Pro. I think it's one of the best sounding neck pickups around for a LP style guitar. It really likes the mahagony body with a maple cap, the rosewood fretboard, and the shorter scale length works well to really smooth things out.

It should be a winner also!!!! You can pretty much put about ANY of Duncans neck pickups (except maybe the Distortion neck) with about any of their bridge buckers!! It is all fine, it just depends on what type of flavor you are looking for!!

I too have the Custom/ Jazz n in an LP style axe and like it. That one is usually tuned to D and sometimes drop C. I'm still tweaking the Jazz n to get the lower strings to be a bit brighter, but I like it and the two are a good match. Haven't tried the C5.
