i see the ads for the them and they look really cool to me. sort of jaguar/jazmaster'ish. some models have the p90s in them which i have come to totally love since getting my SG classic. and they are priced well, i think around $500. curious though if anyone has experience with them. thanks.

Re: anyone play a reverend guitar?

Never had any experience with them, I do know Billy Corgan used them on his solo tour.

Re: anyone play a reverend guitar?

I've been GASsing for a Flatroc, but I've never actually PLAYED one...

There aren't many dealers out there, but I've heard their return policy is very lenient.

Re: anyone play a reverend guitar?

I have a Warhawk 290, and it's really great. I think it's the best choice for a sub-$500 guitar. You won't be sorry with any of them.

Re: anyone play a reverend guitar?

I never saw one until a couple of weeks ago. There was an ugly used one for sale in a local GC near me. I picked it up just to see what it was like out of curiosity. The neck played very nicely, and it was a nice light weight. I didn't plug it in though, so no comment on tone.

Re: anyone play a reverend guitar?

A few years ago I owned a Reverend, Rocco for two days. It played nice, and sounded good too. I bought it dirt cheap, and had a chance to make good money on it, so I sold it.

Great guitars!

The new reverends recently came into stock at a local dealer. I played four of them, and was very impressed. I'll be buying one for sure, it's just a matter of timing and which model. Build quality is excellent, and the necks in particular are very nice. They're also very consistently resonant.

I played a Flatroc that sounded amazing, and had the lestrem system, which I liked a great deal. but the best sounding one of the batch was the club king semi with p90s. I tried a charger and a warhawk, both with humbuckers. Both sounded nice unplugged, but the humbuckers weren't quite there for my tastes.

So for me it's going to be between a charger 290 or a flatroc. Definitely with a Lestrem.

Re: anyone play a reverend guitar?

many praises for the rev being sung....uh oh, the GAS..............

Re: anyone play a reverend guitar?

I just checked out a Charger 290 with the Les Trem in beautiful Lowell, Massachusetts.

Great guitar! I was very impressed with it. Nice (relatively) beefy neck (kind of similar to the CIJ '62 necks) and it sounded nice. I loved the trem.

I have a nice Gibson Historic TV Junior that I never play because I'm way more comfortable with the Fender scale. I think I'll sell that and pick up a Reverend or two! Or maybe a Reverend and a tweed Champ clone.

Revs rock!

Re: anyone play a reverend guitar?

I ended up buying the Flatroc with Lestrem that I tried. Took it straight on tour over New Year's and it performed excellently. The guitar plays great, sounds great, and the bass contour control is incredibly useful for varying your sound on the spot, enabling a bit more single coil cut as you need it.

The only criticisms I have after three months' gigging is that the wilkinson locking tuners work well but make for difficult string removal (I'm going to upgrade to more expensive locking pegs) and the gretsch-style pickups are a bit squeally under high gain, and therefore more suited to rootsier forms of music.

I played a big local festival recently with my hard rock band and ended up using a Charger HB supplied by the local Rev distributor, and that stood up to high gain just fine.

Having struck up a friendship with the local importer, I've had the opportunity to try a dozen revs, and the quality is great across the range. All the guitars sound good and the necks and weights are very consistent. Superb guitars for the money.

Re: anyone play a reverend guitar?

I have always wanted to try a Reverend guitar. There's a Flatroc for sale near me.

How would you describe the way the Revtrons sound...are they Filtertron-esque or something else?

Is it a versatile guitar with those pickups?

Re: anyone play a reverend guitar?

I've owned an american made Slingshot w/ p-90's for about 4 years. It is the only guitar I have owned, that will never get sold. I have owned Strats , Teles , LP's , Heritage and many others. The guitar felt broke in the second I picked it up for the first time. It really feels alive when you play it. Blues, jazz. rock and country are all in there! You need to check them out. Even the Stage King series guitars are great.

Re: anyone play a reverend guitar?

I have a metal topped USA Avenger(2 strat pups and a tele bridge). Absolutely love it. Can't speak for the new imports but I have heard good things.

Re: anyone play a reverend guitar?

I've never tried one nor seen one in person, however, I've seen pics and decided they weren't my cup of tea lookswise. Didn't KidRock play them at one point?

Re: anyone play a reverend guitar?

The Set Neck Series look downright amazing!

How's the quality?!?!

Five bills....that kills me!
