Anyone see the new Floyd Rose GUITARS??

Just saw a couple of 'em at the GC on 14th St, NYC ... they look kinda hokey, and have the new Speedloader bridge. Priced at around $2k, I would say they would have to be amazing guitars, if they're priced in the Wayne/Tom Anderson range ... they didn't look that special, truth be told. NO nice tops or fancy paint jobs.

Has anyone tried this guitar yet? Any opinions?

That IS spendy, considering. I've seen them, but I haven't really checked one out yet. Do you know what the Speedloader system costs (retail) by itself? I can't say I feel compelled toward the Speedloader guitars, as long as I can get Steinbergers, but it's nice to have another option.

Those are hideous. Why have a headstock at all? They are already making a guitar most traditionalists wouldn't like...why not go all the way?

Steinbergers are great, and were developed by Anthony Philips, so I wouldn't expect any less.

OT for a second: Maggie, I'm confused! Your sn is MAGGIE, but you have Arsenal as your avatar! Not a Newcastle fan?! :laugh2:

I don't like it but it's still better with the headstock IMO... without it this would just look really nasty ( in a bad way...)...

The only thing I like about this guitar is the headstock. There's just something about a guitar that looks like it had its "hand" chopped off that bothers me.

On the down side - did we really need another Strat clone?
C'mon guys, how about a little innovation.

And I never liked the fact that the speedloader limitied you to one set of strings.

The Strat design was perfect before. We don't need Floyd Rose slaughtering it. That pickguard is aweful as well.

When are guitar companies gonna learn that locking nuts and huge hunks of metal on guitars was from the 80s and should stay in the 80s? Nothing is uglier than a beautiful guitar slaughtered with springs and large mechanical devices overtaking it.

The headstock is mediocre, but it's useless. I can't see why anyone would want that guitar. If I got it through an endorsement deal, all I'd want to do is trash one between every song.
