Anyone still like the Screamin' Demon?

Re: Anyone still like the Screamin' Demon?

It's sharp but in a good way, try it in one of your Les Pauls Jolly, it's gonna take your nuts off!

Agree with last two posts.

Liked the SD in my LP Custom, but the highs were seemes slighlty bright, but less than the JB in the same guitar.

The SD was moved again.

Southern gentleman = Explorer + Jazz B in the neck + SD in the Bridge

Re: Anyone still like the Screamin' Demon?

I've got a Demon in the bridge of my Frankenstrat (alder body, maple neck/fingerboard). It sings. I love how the notes bloom with it in this guitar. Sounds way better in this guitar than another Strat I had it in. I don't experience any of the negatives that I have read about. It's all positive for me.

The Demon is one of my favourites. It's relatively low output but has the tightness and response of higher output pickups.

In loud volumes it's great. It has deep lows and low mids, really great for single note metal riffs and a cool crunch.

Jolly I think it'll sound great in a les paul.

George's tech let me held one of his guitars, the Kamikaze weight was like 10 lbs of a hard maple. So his pup might be best in maple maybe?

No, I had a kami that was built just like he plays, neck thru, maple body/neck/ebony board, (CS ordered by some uber fanboy). The SD sounds like one of those cheap strats with ceramic magnet SC's in there. I'm convinced the Eventide must be why he doesn't sound like sh!t.

Re: Anyone still like the Screamin' Demon?

Maple is a really bright wood so it's going to sound bright with ceramic or even an A5. In addtion, the hex pole pieces, instead of the solid slugs, probably cause it to sound on the thin/bright side of the tonal spectrum.

A rough cast A2 in the demon will probably work wonders in a maple-body guitar.
