Interested in cosmetic difference, as long as it doesn't have an extreme negative impact on tone.
Anyone switched P90 covers to chrome/metallic and does it make much tonal difference?

Well, it won't have an "extreme" impact, but you will hear a slight difference. Perhaps more so on a P-90 than on a humbucker.
The metal cover will slightly reduce the brightness of the pup.

Ah, well, that's something I'm not looking to sacrifice for looks, probably stick with plastics, thanks.

Mine already sounds bad inside, too fat, no character, I'm looking at buying new ones and was considering ordering BKP with chrome covers but now I don't think that's how I'm headed.
I don't have a problem with black plastic ones, but I thought it would be cool to have chrome P90s in my SG standard P90 so it looks more like the humbucker standard.

I wish there were more variety in plastic P90 covers. It would be great if somebody offered chrome plastic ones, rather than metal. And gold plastic. You used to be able to get them in ivoroid but I think the guy who made them doesn't do it anymore. Clear would be pretty cool too.

Yeah, stock gibsons. Should be A5
I think I have seen chrome/gold plastics on reverb.
I actually would prefer a worn nickle like on Yamaha RS p90s.
