Anyone tried a C8/59 hybrid?

Hello everyone,

My Gibson Sg Standard had a C5 for a while. After a few months loving it, i got bored with the lack of mids and changed the magnet to an A8. It is sounding great, but i still miss some depth, especially when recording. Besides de depth, i miss something that single coils have that i really can't explain. Or how humbuckers sound on strats or teles. There's just something different...

So, do you think a C8/59 hybrid would work ? The C8 has the perfect chunk for me, but...

If you are missing the attack and clarity then try a Screaming Demon with the alnico 8 .
Custom is too hot for alnico 8 .

I changed the magnet in my C/59 hybrid from A2 to the A8. It didnt have the chunk of the C8, but didnt give enough clarity. In the other words: i wanted to trade chunk against clarity, but only lost chunk and (much more important) i lost the overtones of the C8. The C8 should be called Annihilator that says it all.
To Fab reg: I love the SD with the A5 (moved all hex to the bass strings!) so much in my superstrat that i did not think about swapping in the A8. Maybe sometimes in the future!
