Anyone tried Texas Heat or other Patriot (American) from Eminence Speaker line?

Some people have complemented the Texas Heat as a good American sounding speaker. Others include the Cannabis Rex.

Just curious as to any experience the forum members here might have with these speakers.

texas heat is a great speaker. Solid bottom end, fairly clear in the mids, nice and chimey in the high end. Plenty of power handling. Excellent value.

I've got a Cannibus Rex mixed with a G12H30 in my "59" Bassman combo. To me, it's got a nice full crisp sound and adds a lot of punch to the amp. Lotsa bottom and nice smooth mids and highs. LONG breakin time though. With that amp and speaker combination my Seth Lover and single coils sound better than with anything else I have like Marshalls, Univoxes, Fender Champ etc...

Texas heats are great speakers, I found they work especially well in a closed back 2x12 cabinet. Be warned that they do have a very unique sound and do add a somewhat gritty sound to your amp. It works great for me though and I know a lot of other people like them as well.

I have a Texas Heat w/t a Private Jack in a 2x12 closed back cab. No complaints at all. :D

prob the most verstaile speaker I have heard...produces fender cleans well and has enough snarl to do britsh style gain...im Gas'ing for a pair in my YCV80.

the most solid Patriot except for maybe the swamp thang if you need a fat as hell bottom end...

How would you compare it to the Celestion Vintage 30?

Re: Anyone tried Texas Heat or other Patriot (American) from Eminence Speaker line?

Very different than a vintage 30. Vintage 30 is known as the Brit sound while the Texas Heat is very American. It has a much more pronounced bass with less highs and accentuates the low mids instead of the high mids that a V30 gives you.

Re: Anyone tried Texas Heat or other Patriot (American) from Eminence Speaker line?

Well the V30 has that aggressive higher mid spike and alot more high end feel...

The TH has a bigger bottom that entends into the low mids...alot more tame high mids compared to the V30 but they are there...and the TH has a smoother high end.

Night and Day but both very amazing speakers IMO...

I have a pair of THs in my MusicMan 212 HD. The more I play the better I like them. Concur witht the above posts, but must throw in that my MM is open back. I don't know if this effects the highs, but when playing on the upper end of the scale, the notes jump out and are very distinct (in a good way). Sort of have that SRV type register when playing above the 12th fret. Same goes with the bottom end. Very pronounced, with the mid range more "mellow", but still have good clairity, just don't jump out at you like the lows and highs.
Once again, this is with my amp:bigok:

Bottom line: I like them!

Man, I hate to do this, but I gotta say -1 to the Texas Heats. First of all, props to Eminence for giving us such a comprehensive and well thought out line of speakers to choose from. To say that I didn't like the Heats would actually be an overstatement. Nothing wrong with 'em--they just sounded average to me. I had been running a Mesa Mark 3 through a pair of Peavey 112SX cabs loaded with 12" Sheffield (Peavey's Celestion knock-off??) The TH's that I replaced them with didn't sound any better--kind of indistinct (?) and weren't quite as loud either. Along comes a pair of Governors...WOW! I never knew my rig could sound so rich and raw and full of powerful girth! And God-awful loud too! I don't know what kind music you're into, but these will definitely do Priest, Scorpions, Motley Crew, etc. With my rig the Texas Heats just couldn't quite get there...

I put a Governor in my Stiletto in place of the Vintage 30 and love the thing. Those mids sound heavenly.

Back to the topic of the Patriot line, The C Rex is a great sounding speaker - but it depends on what you're looking for. It's very smooth and evenly balanced. It didn't work for my application (I greatly missed the mids of a British speaker) but nevertheless a very nice speaker. I traded mine for a Governor and the guy who now owns it loves it.

Re: Anyone tried Texas Heat or other Patriot (American) from Eminence Speaker line?

To me the Eminence Legend 125's kind of sound like a more refined version of the Texas Heats. Dont know if anyone else feels this way as well or not but thought I'd throw it out there in response to the Texas Heats sounding "Average".

Re: Anyone tried Texas Heat or other Patriot (American) from Eminence Speaker line?

: Average is probably a good statement in that according to the guy I talked to at Eminance, the THs were supposed to be a more "neutral" type speaker. The way I understood him describing them, the "color" of the sound they were "supposed" to emit was what was coming from your guitar, amp and whatever was in between the two. So, "average" or "neutral", would be a pretty good discription.
But, I will say that I am in the process of building a speaker box and will load either two Governors or mix a Governor and a G12H to get that British Mid thing going, hopefully to get the best of both worlds::14:

The Guv and Wizard would probably be great also. I had the Wizard in a past amp and liked it also.
