Anyone try the Classic Stack Plus?

I'm using genuine SSL-1's in the neck position of both my Strats. They sound quite good, but I'm a bit curious on trying the Classic Stack Plus and putting those in the neck positions. Seymour says they sound just like a traditional single-coil.

I've used the Dimarzio Area pickups and the Area 67 I know for sure sounds quite like a genuine single-coil.

Can anyone provide any feedback on these pickups?

The Classic Stack Plus is one of my favorite pickups. It is a little bit louder and warmer than something like an SSL-1, but man, to me, it is what an ideal Strat should sound like. It does the snap and quack thing really well. The feel like single coils. And dead quiet. I can't say enough nice things.

i really like the cs+ pups! they sound and respond very much like a traditional single coil. like dave said, i do think they are a bit louder and warmer than the ssl1. they sound great! at the same time, i havent ripped out my antiquity single coils either. i do prefer the tone of the antiquity ii jaguar pups (in a strat without the claw) over the cs+ for some things, but as far as noiseless pups go, the cs+ is the best ive found. my favorite set is cs+ neck and middle with a vintage hot stack plus in the bridge

You know last night when I was practicing for the first time I really was noticing the tonal difference between going from a Hot Stack Plus to a traditional SSL-1. Kinda like going from thick to thin. This is fine of course if that is what I want. It's all choice and preference, but I think I'm going to experiment a little with putting in a neck pickup that is slightly thicker.

My favorite noiseless single-coils. I run mine with a Perpetual Burn in the bridge. No fancy wiring or splitting. Makes for a pretty diverse guitar setup tone wise. The CS+ has that sound without the noise. Best I’ve used.

Got it soldered in. Found out though when testing that my Hot Stack Plus was giving no sound. Just dead. This has happened to me before when using this pickup. So I kinda knew that some wire was touching something and shorting out.

I saw the bare ground wire touching the soldering points on the bottom of the pickup so I moved it around and off and tried the pickup again and now it worked.

I will practice tonight and see how the Classic Stack Plus sounds.

I have a Classic Stack neck and a Vintage Hot Stack bridge in an ash Strat copy and this thing rocks solid!

Very, very good sounding pickup. Sounds just like a true single-coil, like an SSL-1. Not a muddy bass either. Bass is clear and articulate. And dead quiet. What about the Vintage Hot Stack? How does it differ from the Classic Stack?

little more output, mids, and bottom end than the cs+ bridge. i really like it if you want a slightly fatter tone. still sounds like a strat bridge pup but with a bit more meat to it. less drastic a change than the custom stack + or hot stack +. though, those are both great pups too

depends on what other pups you have in the guitar. if you have the hot stack + in the bridge, maybe the vintage hot stack would be ok in the neck? i use a cs+ bridge model in the neck with a hot stack + in the bridge and they balance well

A Custom Stack Plus is like an SSL-5 and is thicker than what a Vintage Stack Plus would be, so I think it would work.

IMO, a Vintage Hot Stack in the bridge is a natural extension from the Classic Stack in the neck. Just the perfect match of tone and volume. YMMV.

I'm thinking about this single coil for the slant neck position of my Charvel Model 5FX along with maybe a Seymour Duncan 59/Custom Hybrid in the bridge position

I'd absolutely recommend it. The Classic Stack sounds wonderful with the Hybrid.
