Anyone use a Cool Rails in mid position if strat?

Re: Anyone use a Cool Rails in mid position if strat?

Sorta . . . kinda . . . I had 3 Cool Rails in my Strat for awhile. The only reason they aren't still there is because I'm still playing with Strat variations and budget constraints dictate that something goes before something new enters.
The reason I tell you that is that even though they are (temporarily) gone, they were one of my favorite Strat sets. The thing is, I had the middle one wired in parallel to give it a different and more mellow tone than the other two.

I find Cool Rails to be one of Duncans most unique pups. They have, (here it comes again), "spank", like no other Duncan pup. IMHO Depending on what you're going to match it with in the neck and bridge, its hard to go wrong with a CR - in any position.

Edit: I should add - I don't consider a Cool Rails to be a "vintage" or traditional Strat tone. More its own unique character, which is what I strive for in my guitars. ;)

I have a Cool Rail neck at the neck, a Cool Rail bridge at the mid and a Hot Rail bridge at the bridge in on of my Strats and I love that Cool Rail bridge at the mid. It works well with Rock, Blues, Jazz and Country and I can even shred with it.
