Anyone use Ableton Live?

I'm new to recording and since this came with the toneport I'd like to at least make an attempt to use it before I decide on something else. Does anyone here use it? I heard it was easy to use but I'm lost on what to do. Are the lessons any help?

Re: Anyone use Ableton Live?

It's easy, the only thing I miss is it doesn't have a built in wav/aiff file editor. The manual is clear on how to record and for basic productions that don't require a lot of editing it works just fine.

In a nut shell you will make a new Live session and save your files and session to a folder. Then you will select an input on a track and arm the track to record - hit record and wail away or noodle what ever. :)

I haven't had a chance to sit down and read the manual, I rarely read manuals. :laugh2: But I think I will need to being a newbie to recording.

you ad a track...and record it.very easy.or drag and drop any backing track. There is no easier DAW software out there.

Ableton is pretty cool. I cant really complain about it. The only thing I want to know is how I could boost the levels more? Cause running dirrect into my toneport its loud, but micing something out the thing needs to be cranked to equal the levels of my toneport. And the slider knob for boosting the level only goes up so high, and sometimes its not enough to compete with the toneport levels without having to crank the amp I'm recording.

There is another gain knob in the waveform window of each track. Drop a track into the arrange page and click on it then look in the window bottom left - there is a slider for the gain.

Looks like I've figured some of it out without having to read the manual. :) I'm glad to hear those that use it like it. You can only record up to 4 tracks correct?

You can change the view ,(right top) ,and use the mixer to boost the level. You can also boost the "send" higher to get more gain!Ableton is really loud enough.
