Anyone use an onboard preamp for GUITAR

I love a good preamp on my basses, so I've decided to get a custom Bartolini preamp with a Baxandall bass and treble control as well as sweepable mids.

Anyone else try one? Beats bending over to touch a knob on the floor or walking over to your amp

My new Sterling Luke has a flat 12dB boost in the volume knob (push/push). It isn't an active EQ though. It is my first guitar with a boost in it. I just usually would use a Pickup Booster pedal or a compressor for the boost.

My SR500 has a boost and a 3 band preamp for the Bartolini pickups

My SR300 has a battery so i guess it has a boost too

I think all my basses take a nine volt

My acoustics all have preamp or preamp like components

The Yamaha FS-TA has chorus and reverb along with volume

I put a preamp (Fishman knockoff) in my Epiphone Hummingbird

My old trusty CH4 has still its original JS1000 Jackon preamp with a mid boost... I've added to it various filters and a fancy wiring.

That said, to me, Guitar preamps are tonally versatile but can bring a problem absent with bass: hiss under hi-gain...

the duncan firestorm. i have one of those in a fender mustang, it does its trick well.

ive only had either flat boosts or mid boosts like the clapton or emg spc, and i like both of those

I use the ARTEC QTA 5-way boost with active pickups. I tried it with passive pickups but it's much better with actives.

Hey, I've forgotten to evoke a home-made Stratoblaster preamp that I've on the shelf. It's in a small plastic box that I can associate easily to a guitar strap... My Fernandes Revolver has also a preamp for its sustainer but I've paired it with an on/off rotoswitch replacing the original tone control because it eats batteries pretty fast.

That's another thing with preamps: some circuits require fresh batteries more often than others. It ruined our most recent stage session: my bandmate had a problem of dying batteries with his Takamine. My own electro-acoustic guitars have way simpler preamps but at least, they allow batteries to last years...

Well i think it's a trade off.
short battery life, more dynamics,
long Battery life, less dynamic.
if done properly....
