Anyone use the Blackout preamp with a Hybrid?

I Know that the preamp is suppose to make all pickups sound like black outs but I was wondering what it would sound like with a hybrid? The use of unbalanced coils would probably have a different feel to it and not just a regular blackout tone. I imagine more harmonics and output with the possibility of a distinct sound, combine this with all the different typesof hybrids and magnets it could be interesting.

Well, Duncan kind of has that idea already designed into the BMP. While each of your two coils get amplified individually, one gets a more bass favored curve applied to it, the other gets a more treble favored curve, then the two get summed for output. I have used mis-matched HB's with the BMP & it becomes even more important to try wiring the coils to each leg of the preamp to see which way sounds better to you. Then, of course, you have the physical orientation of pickup to play with...particularly with the bridge pickup. It gives a lot of options to fine tune.

Sorry, Izz. I don't think there's a lot of Blackout Preamp users around here to offer advice. I know I found info scarce when I first started hooking 'em up. Fortunately, the quick change wiring system on them makes it quick & easy to try a bunch of things out.

Checking out your guitar list, it looks like you're a big active pup user. How does your Dimebucker compare in tone/output vs B.O.'s and LW's?
