FWIW, I put a set of them in my JCM 800/2204, and they sound great, IMO. More "rounder-sounding" than EL34's; with a little less "bite". I really had to open-up the tube retainers, to get them to fit in right.

Scott, you now got me looking for GEC original KT-66 tubes again.

My wife is going to ask why???

There is no way I can help you rationalize dropping 200-400 bucks on a set of power tubes. Someone else will have to help enable your bad decision making! :)

Correct, I have not. I have tried some incredible RCA 6L6 nos tubes one time that were priced at stupid levels. Just not worth it to my ears.

Maybe Larry will swing by some day with them so I can hear them for myself.

Scott - you have heard my GEC KT-66's

Holland - Little Jimi, however you remember how musical that amp is (First Houston Jam back in 2002)

I need to get some clip to you on Edana (I switched the one that came with it)

I was giving you a hard time more than anything Scott, however I am a big beliver in NOS tubes in some amps...I wouldn't waste the money on NOS tubes for a Crate or Mesa however in some amps NOS tubes seem to really bring something magical to the table! That said, some amps are much better off IMO with new tubes...lots of more modern amps sound their best to me with nice current production tubes.
