STRATDELUXER97
Stratoblaster Tone Meister
I bought the Picture Wah a few weeks ago and returned it after I realized that my tweaked out Vox 847 was competing with it...I then got myself a reissue Vox Clyde 848 and tweaked that and liked that one alot also...This 848 has been my favorite after doing the Fulltone pot and inductor and some board tweaks after alot of listening to the board changes I Made..
Curly and Lew were phenomenal guys in letting me borrow their wahs...Curly sent me his Teese RMC1 and Lew sent me his Fulltone Clyde Deluxe...Both different sounding wahs entirely!
Curly's Teese wah has a very smooth(almost dark)ballsy tone with prominent mids and good vocal range and a nice boost. This wah doesn't cut like a vintage voiced wah however in a band and lacks some of the highs of Lew's wah..Curly's RMC1 is voiced for a strat and is a strat player's dream wah...This wah has a boosted overall tone and a slight increase in unity gain when you engage the pedal, but this baby is smooth, smooth, smooth! Not a wah for the humbucker users..
Lew's Fulltone is way more vintage sounding and has less lows and balls, but is more quacky and vocal sounding..Lew's expensive Deluxe wah has the vintage "Jimi" Vox Clyde McCoy voicing, but goes steps further and offers 2 other wah voices.."Shaft" and "Wacked" plus a volume/gain level control on the side of the wah...I like the Fulltone's vintage tone better than the Teese Picture wah I returned,in fact i've been watching for either the standard Fulltone Clyde or a Teese Wizard Wah...
I've done some extensive research and experimenting on wahs lately...I've come to the conclusion that I crave the earliest wah tones, but with more lows added into the circuit to beef things up a bit...I also like the toe down postion to be less ice picky in it's extreme toe down position...Special thanks to my buddy Curly who has been listening to his own 847,848,and his great sounding RMC1 while we experiment and voice these wahs...
Just wondering if any of you are using the Wizard Wah after all my babbling! :smack:
