Re: Anyone using an OD pedal to boost their gain channel?
Glad it worked for ya ... another satisfied customer!

Nightburst said:GAS: I went to the store to buy some strings and picks and I got home with a Tubescreamer :yell:. Still it wasn't a 100% impulse buy because I've been thinking about boosting my amp's gain channel for quite some time to get that over the top distortion.
My first impression is that I like the transparancy of this pedal though it's quite noisy. I kinda expected more for the price I paid but maybe I'm too sceptical with too little experience with this pedal.
Anyone else who uses a OD pedal to boost their Distortion? I'd like to know how it works.
Gearjoneser said:Nightburst, I think you should use your Blue Channel as your heavy tone, with the boost activated to be a heavier rhythm tone. Then, make the Bogner's red channel PURE MELTDOWN! Structure switch on, the small switch above gain on max, and with the gain at around 6. If you're not getting enough gain with all of that PLUS the boost engaged, there's something really wrong. Also, retube your amp because the tubes are probably half shot. Ecstasies need the tubes changed once per year.

Totally true -- AND since I'm more of a 'high gain' kind of player, I'm more interested in getting that nice, thick distortion over an actual volume boost.Gearjoneser said:You'll find that the OD pedal adds more volume, the cleaner the amp is. On highgain, the OD barely adds volume, but smooths out the distortion.
