Re: Anyone want to have a go at this?

this sort of change is pretty comon in jazz.

a good example would be Cantalope Island by Herbie Han****.
(Fm7|Db9|Dm7|Fm7|)

i'll try to record my take on this tomorrow
cool track thanks for uploading

Re: Anyone want to have a go at this?

wow - you guys are SMOKIN' .. i better practice before i post any more :D

pyro - cool vibe you had going there .. i like the way you picked 2 different tones to have the tune evolve sonically

Dim D-7 - damn man !!! always more incredible playing from you ... the tone was killer too .. i love your long fluid lines that connect across the change

Kirk - another killer slide track form you eh mate? :D .. very sophisticated, vocal-like phrasing .. your use of accent notes from the upper extensions of the chord framework is very cool too

Re: Anyone want to have a go at this?

thanks tone4days bro
i learnt from my mistakes in a previous clip i posted, thanks for the forum members here for pointing them out!
aimed more to play through the changes instead of "vertically" on them. its not 100% on but it'll have to do for now :D

i just listend to your clip
excellent vibe going on, obviously incredibly different then what came up in my head when i heard the backing. the main line going there (the one your start with) is great, very special. hard to find a complex melody on a simple backing if you know what i mean. great work.
nice touch with the bouncy vibrato and confidence in the phrasing.
keep it up!

thanks for the kind words, DimD-7 :)

... yeah, that's exactly what i love about these things .. hearing the different takes on the theme that different players develop just opens up my ears so much

Cool. How neat to hear all these different approaches, sounds, feels. I love it.

Re: Anyone want to have a go at this?

Hello guys!

I've just put a JB humbucker in the bridge position of my Strat and I thought I'd take a shot at this jam.

Here's my attempt at bebop licks :smack:

I used a Fender Deluxe amp model

I haven't been practicing much for some time :gurmpy: but there are some parts I like. :laugh2:

I'm off to practice. :burnout:

Re: Anyone want to have a go at this?

Chris, some nice soulful bluesey stuff there, would have preffered the guitar dead centre though and a little louder.

Soulman thats a really bitey tone, but the neck pup tone sounded a little thin.

Some nice licks in there :D

:D

eeerrr

tha't probably because I didn't use it. :laugh2:

It's just the JB and the bridge/middle position at one point.
I have these cheap headphones probably intended for rap lovers that just boost all the bass frequencies.

I guess that is why I eq my guitar tone so it "bites".

That's a JB witha 250K tone pot by the way. :saeek:

Re: Anyone want to have a go at this?

rofl :D

ok i'll go hang my head in shame... thats probably the worst post i've ever made to get that wrong :smack:

btw, i like a bitey tone on my bridge pup sometimes, it makes me play more agressively :)

Re: Anyone want to have a go at this?

I just heard your mp3.

Some very cool Howe/Vai arpeggios happening in the second half. :cool3:

Would you care to share some tabs of that stuff?
I feel like practicing tomorrow, I've got really sloppy over the past year. :blackeye:

I dont tab my own stuff out, mostly because I dont write solos, I just jam them out :D
