Anyone wired a strat to Brian May specs?

Re: Anyone wired a strat to Brian May specs?

I wire all my 3xsingle coil strats so that the bridge and middle are in series when the switch is in the bridge position only. That's the way Brian used to get his bridge HB sound. It's an interesting tone; the high string sound like a humbucker but the low strings still have some single coil thwap to them. You can definitely hear the May thing going on when you do that.

I have a Strat that I modified w/Burns TriSonic Brian May pickups wired the way Brian May has it wired w/on/off & phase switches. I would have preferred to wire it in series w/5 way Strat switch, but I didn't know how to accomplish this. So I wired it the way Burns gave me directions to do. I have to say that in series, w/more than one pu turned on, it is a very nice useable tone. In fact, this is a very versatile guitar as long as you don't have to switch from pu to pu very quickly.
