AP Tuner app

Not sure if this is the right forum for this question so if not, if a mod can move it for me.

I was wondering if anyone uses the AP Tuner app? If so, can you ever set it to 1cent and actually get a solid reading on this thing?

If I change it to 5 cent I do not have any issues getting very clear bars and no moving to the left or right but never when set to 1 cent.

Thanks.

Re: AP Tuner app

I *love* APTuner. It is really accurate (1/10th cent), and I use it every day. I use it for intonation, too. It has always been very stable.

Re: AP Tuner app

I have and was using the Fender app for tuning but in my reading the consensus was a strobe tuner was the best tuning method. Do you folks not agree? I would also be using it for intonation as 2 of my guitars have new strings, nuts and one also has a new bridge.

Thanks again for the replies.

Mincer, are you able to get a solid “stop” and clearly defined bars with in on 1 cent? I just cannot get it with any of my guitars on that setting. Thanks.

I do like both apps compared to the clip on I used to use.

I know Peterson has a strobe app but it cost like 10 bucks plus you have to buy an adapter to use it. Plus other features are in app purchases which I do not like. Not that the cost is high but if other tuners are just as good why spend the money unless the Peterson strobe app is that much better.

Re: AP Tuner app

There is never a solid stop, as notes go flat as they sustain. I aim for the middle right after the initial attack. I can usually get +/-.5 of a cent that way. That is pretty accurate.

OK, thank you as that is what I have found myself.

I apologize but I have not figured out the “like” thing, so here is mine for you. Like.

Re: AP Tuner app

You can also calibrate AP Tuner by sampling a known frequency like a tuning fork. In my case it shifted things a few cents.

Re: AP Tuner app

So I went ahead and purchased the Peterson iStobeSoft app and the adapter needed to hook it up to my Apple devices (about 20 dollars total). I have to say I love it way more than the AP Tuner. The strobe is not flying by like the Enterprise at warp speed. Not only does it provide the strobe while viewing it, it also has the “cents” shown on the screen at the same time.

I have not had a chance to look at everything else it may have but for me it works great.

I went through both my guitars I have out and tuned them and also did the intonation. The only one I did not do is the one I have up for sale as it is in its case and I cannot take a chance of me letting stupid happen to it.
