Re: aphex aural exciter? info needed
Please don't take this the wrong way, Digga, but my recommendation is to have your music mastered by someone other than yourself, especially if you're doing the mixing. You really need another pair of ears to make sure everything comes out perfect. There's more involved in mastering than in just making sure the music is loud.
I have an AW16G, and I think it's a great unit. I use it for tracking and mixing, but have never used the unit for mastering anything ...
An aural exciter is a processor that does exactly what the name implies: it excites certain frequencies that are pleasing to the ear to give the sound more sparkle, boom, or whatever. If I were going to use this effect it would be on the tracking end of things, because universal EQ's like that rarely work in the real world. I have an old BBE 411, similar in use, that I used when tracking bass for my album. It worked great in firming up the bottom end.
If you're looking for a one-box solution for doing your own mastering, tho, you could look into the TC ELECTRONICS FINALIZER for this purpose, I suppose. Mastering includes fade in/fade out of all songs, setting their final order, making sure they're all the same level, and final EQ adjustments.
