Apologies, it's not getting SD pickups

Well. Not yet. I've got a pickguard from pickgamuars.com loaded with Dean "Michael Scheneker" ones for this bad boy.

And yes, by the time I'm finished only the wood will remain.

Sweet. Love the Yin / Yang color scheme.

Not all my guitars have Duncan's. The cool thing about this forum is they don't mind you talking about what you love. Regardless who makes it.

I believe, though I'm probably wrong, that back in the day Schenker's original V had T-Tops. That, and the famous "cocked wah pedal" probably accounted for his UFO era sound.

Any ideas what SD pickup(s) would be a close match? 7.5k ish, Alnico 5, I believe.

Jazz with a short bar A5 and a 59N in the bridge. Or stock, just a Jazz neck, 59N in the bridge.

"just a Jazz neck, 59N in the bridge."

Have this combination in my Eastman version of the ES-339. This setup really lets each pickup shine, and contrasts the two nicely.

That's a sweet V. I love V's, though I don't own one.

Nothing wrong with not using SD's. My Les Paul has the stock Gibson pickups (BB3 went back in a few months ago), Dean ML has stock DiMarzios, a Lollar in my SG Jr, a Lollar will be in the LP Jr DC when I can finish it, Squier CV 60s Strat has stock pickups. I have 3 with Duncans.

For this particular V, I'd definitely put something PAF class in the neck. A 59 or Whole Lotta Humbucker. For the bridge, it just screams Custom to me. Using the volume and tone knobs, all sorts of tones are possible with that setup.

My Epiphone Korina V has Saturday Night Specials, quite happy with them. I wanted something different from this one.

I'm trying the Deans first, but if they're too hot, I'll probably go for SD 58 bridge and Jazz neck, or maybe I'll put in the Gibson 57 Classics I have sitting in a drawer.

Finished.

Chinese pre-painted mahogany body and neck, rosewood fretboard. The rest of the Chinese parts were junked.

Dean "Lights Out" Michael Schenker pickups. One came in a box autographed by the man himself.

The pickguard came from pickguards.com, clear plastic, which I then sprayed on the underside before advising copper foil tape.

DIY electronics with CTS 500K push-pulls. The volumes coil split the individual pickups, the tone phase flips the bridge pickup. The switch is a Switchcraft, but making it fit meant pickup selection is a forwards / backwards thing rather than an up / down.

Grover locking tuners, TusqXL nut, Guyker roller saddle bridge, Gotoh stop tail.

Very comprehensive upgrades. I hope it serves you well for the longest time. How is the action and playability.
