Re: Apple Logic Pro 10

RD - Some elements of the new Drummer feature bear a strong similarity to EZD. Building custom kits, selecting the "personality" of the virtual skin basher. There is even a complexity editing feature that reminds me of the Spectrasonics Stylus RMX Simplify parameter.

uOpt - LP10 is definitely not dumbed down. IMO, Apple is trying to reach out to users of Garage Band for iPad. The leap from a "fun" tablet to a "serious" computer needs to be as painless as possible in order to win sales.

From my perspective, the integration between Logic Pro and Garage Band could be useful in the opposite direction. The OS on my laptop is already two cats behind my desktop computer and about to fall even further behind. A highly specified tablet might be a wiser choice as my "Portastudio" than a MacBook Pro.

Today, I downloaded and installed the LP10.0.1 bug fix. It appears to have worked.

Re: Apple Logic Pro 10

I'm using Logic Pro 8 on my trusty G5.

I'm thinking about upgrading to 9... well, I've got to upgrade to an intel mac first.

I do like the built in pitch correction in Logic Pro X, but I might spring for an old copy of Melodyne before I jump to ProX

Re: Apple Logic Pro 10

Unless you can find 9 cheaply, go straight to 10 when you get an Intel Mac.

Unlike the last few OS upgrades, you will not need to purchase every intermediate version of Logic Pro.

Re: Apple Logic Pro 10

FIRST SNAG
Logic Pro 10.0.1 has decided that it will not host the 2008 version of Waldorf D-Pole as an AU plug-in because "PowerPC programs are not supported." By this reasoning, Logic 9 should also have disallowed the filter software. Some of my more Industrial projects depend on that gritty, bit-reduced sound.

FIXED
Solved by spending money on the latest update. I soon rediscovered why I did not persevere for very long with the Wave 2.2 emulation after the initial purchase. The D-Pole filter remains essential to my work. In 64-bit, the Attack analogue percussion synthesizer kicks Major League gluteus maximus.

My MOTU interface box is also behaving itself better after a driver software update.
