these are mostly various marshalls jcm 800 and 250dfx
not recorded yet -my new toy 15 watt class a tube AMP.

ANYWAY back to the question, this is really important to me and there must be people who have heard both.
Now instead of describing in words "more highs, scooped mids, bla bla"
I added a clip, which I find would be helpful to get another idea of what a pup sounds like, at least I find these thing helpful.

so could anyone clearly state the diff between the aps1 and the texas hots based on personal experience?

I"M pretty much down to the texas hot or fralins.
The fralins sound great every player that uses them sound good, they sound a little too sweet to me, bu t I can live with it.

never heard the texas hots, I like the alnico 2 sound but again never heard tthe pups so please help

Re: aps 1 vintage staggered or texas hots?

jarvis,

yes, they are similar, since both are A2 pickups

the APS is a great neck pickup with a warm tone

you will notice a subtle difference with the Texas Hots -- the scatter winding gives them a bit smoother tone without any frequency peaks
also, if you get a set with the Custom bridge, they are very well balanced -- although the spec on the bridge is 9K+, it seems just right

to me, they are like a real good set of vintage strat pickups, but better because the bridge pickup is very usable, especially if you have the bridge wired for tone so you can roll off the highs a little

the aged A2 pickups have less string pull, so more sustain and picking dynamics (true for both APS and THs)

the APSs are a great vintage style pickup, no doubt -- even better with a hotter bridge pickup, like a Twangbanger or SSL-3, if you don't mind foregoing vintage quack in the B/M position

the Texas Hots are a great "ultimate" strat set -- for that strat you love and play all the time, and feel it deserves the best possible tone

here are a couple of clips -- not straight up comparisons, but maybe it will help anyway:

Antiquities

APS-2s with SSL-3 bridge

Tks Curly

That was helpful, beautiful sound BTW,
Just one thing the second link brings u to the same page.
But I get the idea, the Texas hots sound very full , bringing out the entire sound of the guitar. the alnico pro 2 is great but it sounds less open to my ears.
of course a 1 on1 comparison will be appreciated.

like u said if this is the"ultimate" strat set, thats what I'm after.

peace
