aptl1 alnico 2pro for tele

Hi,
I have a super lightweight warmoth tele, 3lb6oz swamp ash body, maple/pauferro neck, vintage bridge and tuners.
I'm looking for a warm bridge pup that'll do classic rock. I play thru a fender blues jr w/a mxr micro amp as a boost for soloing.

I've tried the 5/2 (too country), sd hot for tele (too high output, and a5 brightness), dimarzio virtual hot (again a5s), and fender texas specials (too bright as well).

Its seems like the a2pro may be the right choice but I'm worried about it's output.

What do y'all think?

Cheers
Mark

get a set of antiquities. they have a great tone, not too country. they have alnico 2 magets and a normal output. should be just what you are looking for.

I use an APTL-3JD, and many here know that I love it. It's an A2 mag and is very versatile. I do the rock/country/blues thing and it covers it pretty well. We have a new guy in our little garage band that has brought a lot of classic rock to the table and the JD can handle it. I've run it through my CyberTwin, H/K, an old Danelectro Tube, a TM-10 and a Blues Jr. Great cleans, and not too sissy to get dirty either. Depending on height it can get very bright or very smooth. I lowered mine a bit and it made a huge difference in warmth.

Have fun-
Dave

Thanks for the replies guys! I found a new a2pro locally for a great price, so I picked it up and will be installing it this weekend. I'll let y'all know how I like it then.

Thanks

if you dont like the alnico 2, try the jd like dave said. its one of my favorite tele brideg pups

will do! After reading the posts about the JD i actually wanted one. But nobody's got 'em in stock locally. So I'll try the a2pro and go from there.
Thanks

the a2 pro is a very cool pup, a little warmer and smoother than a fender tele pup with similar output. try it you may like it alot, but if not try the jd its a little more juiced up

A2

A2

I've got an Antiquity in my MIM Tele. Its a great tone, seriously great! I also use an Alnico II staggered/reverse in a Voodoo Strat, and I think its a fantastic tone as well. Its a great tone for rock, and it sounds fine clean as well. Tell us what you think of the new A2.

I have been thinking about putting a JD or Antiquity Tele lead pickup in an American Series Telecaster (moderately heavy and bright sounding swamp ash body, rosewood fingerboard, modern Tele bridge). I would like to mate it with a Phat Cat or mini-humbucker (an Antiquity Firebird or an SM-1n Vintage mini) at the neck. Which combination would likely work best for a fat sound for blues-based music? I already have an SM-3n Seymourized mini-HB mated with a Fender Nocaster bridge pickup in another ash American Series Tele, and I like that combination very much, but I don't want an exact duplicate.
