Mine is neck through? Are you buying a bolt on neck?

I think they are...especially if you've ever had one with Grover tuners! :laugh2:

Actually though, they're not neck heavy as much as they are body light!

I mean the neck is about the same neck Gibson uses on all thier guitars...

I don't have an issue. It really depends on how you hold it...doesn't really move for me.

BTW- if you are talking about mine, I think I've taken it off the auction block. You can PM me if you want.

yeah i was talking about you man! your guitar is so tempting but i just cant stand a neck heavy guitar

Moving the upper strap button location from the behind the neck...to the upper horn like Tony Iommi helps.

I have the set neck Epi Iommi. The Epi Iommi G-400 is not identical in shape to a Gibson SG. Just a little natural forearm pressure keeps the neck where it needs to be so well, this is a non-issue for me. I posted this same question previously, and there are "search" results in this site's history that may shed more light on this issue. I remember reading one poster mentioning good balance with a Maestro vibrato setup, but I don't really know.

The sound of the SG-style body is sooo unique, and beautiful in its raucous fury, I would consider getting one and stuff the control cavity with lead (or milling a cavity in the rear and filling it with lead and epoxy, covering it with a plastic plate) if the strap button relocation did not perform well enough to my liking.

I had the same problem with mine, so I bought a strap with a suede back and now the strap won't allow the guitar to slide around. It's a $20 fix and it works well, at least until it wears smooth. :chairfall

Pretty much. In my experience, SG necks are pretty much identical to LP necks (and 335 necks, etc.) but the body is just so ridiculously light. I really love the way they look and feel, and I think that's an awesome purchase, not that you asked.

Plus, they're pretty inexpensive, compared to other Gibbys.

Not true! Not true! (But then again maybe the Bigsby has something to do with it,):joke:

Just use a 3" leather strap with it. Its very comfortable and won't budge an inch.

I haven't used one standing up but it pisses me off when I can't have a guitar sit on my leg and not fall over, which the SG does more than any other guitar, period.

Remember you can always move the rear strap button in addition to the one at the neck.
