Are Guyker tuners any good?

I've bought cheapie guitar stuff off Amazon before. Some of it has been fine, some of it ended up being crap.

The story is I got a used EC-400VF which came with some worn nickel hardware. I already had a chrome Gotoh bridge and tailpiece lying around, so I just dropped them in as an upgrade. I also had chrome straplocks. Dropped them in as well. Left the Grover tuners, though. Those are still nickel. That kinda triggers my OCD.

I don't have a problem with them functionally. They work well. They are brand tuners, after all. But I'd prefer them to be chrome, and if I'm going to change them, I might as well make them be locking as well.

My preference is usually Gotoh, but Grovers usually work well for me too. It's not like Grovers are anything special, though. They're made by Ping, who also make the Gibson Kluson-wannabe tuners that everyone complains about and the Fender locking tuners that I have and like.

I wonder who makes these Guyker tuners? I remember I once I had a set of Jin-Ho locking tuners that I got off Guitar Fetish that were terrible. They were supposedly locking, but the lock didn't lock, LOL, so they were super unstable. I wouldn't want that.

But then the stock own-brand LTD locking tuners they put on the 1000 series work fine as well.

Just want to know if I'd bet throwing my money away with these. If they don't work, I might as well just keep the Grovers.

Thoughts?

My utube feed has been flush with Guyker products the past few days
tuners bridges. That Duessenberg TOM tremolo thing
I want that.

But the locking tuners, yea I have several of the Guyker knockoffs of Grovers and they work just great

I mean they grab the string
they tune to pitch
Have 18 or 21 to one ratio
string doesn't fall out
had that issue with a cheap set from somewhere online years back.

Yep couple of sets , no issues work like name brands

My go-to for situations where I don't want to pay a lot is the Musiclily stuff on Amazon. I don't know where it's from. Probably the same factory as the Guyker stuff lol.

I've had good luck with Musiclily. Those are actually what I meant when I said "some of it has been fine". But I only ordered pickguard, pots, and trem blocks off them. Oh, and a rail single coil pickup that kinda sucked, LOL.

I've had three sets; one 'Grover' like, one 'Kluson' like and one Scaller like. The Kluson and Grover style work great, the Schaller style has one post that needed deburring because it was snapping e strings.

Pretty good value for the $$ in general, but not the equivalent of Grover or Gotoh, IMHO.

I was reading reviews on Amazon just now
and some folks aren't happy

Just get a set from a place with a good return policy
Just in case

I've had Guyker lockers. They're "ok" in a pinch or for a guitar you're not keeping, but I'd gladly pay a little more for the smoothness, closer tolerances, and better build of Gotohs, even on a "cheap" guitar

Guyker tuners are legit the worst aftermarket tuners I have ever used. I bought two sets and I only bought the second because the first were so bad I thought they had to be defective. Gotoh SG381 sets aren't that much more and are far superior. Lesson learned.

Glad I made this thread. I don't think they're a good choice, then. Better save up for some Gotoh or Grover locking tuners.

I like Gotoh because they’re in that nice sweet spot between the cheap stuff and the boutique stuff. Good price. Good quality. I generally go that route for guitars that I care about.

never tried em but havent heard anything stellar about em. i dont replace things that are working, but when i do, i spend the money to get something good that will last so i dont have to replace it again. this doesnt sound like it

Exactly.

I would never use Guyker, Musiclily, Saphue, etc. on a guitar I was planning on keeping or playing regularly.

The tuning accuracy and holding power of the Gotohs is worth the price of admission alone!

again
my experience was Positive
but in the reviews on Amazon and apparently here
that hasn't always been the case

I have a customer who adores this brand because of all the color options. I get that. But they are just horrible. The lock screw falls out easily, they feel gritty and rough when turning, and the overall feel is abysmal.

I'd never suggest this brand if my life depended on it.
