Are there any Studio Devil VGA users here?

If so, which version/model are you using and how happy are you with it? Is it the only amp/effect plugin you have used? How does it compare to any you have experience with?

I like the look of the Pro model for about $149 manufacturer's list, but you have to spend another $69 to get the bass unit!

I had the free one, it sucked.

Revalver has been about the best one I've tried yet and I've tried most of them.

I did a shootout and it came in like last - with votes from peeps on the board, hehe. amplitube came in pretty high - peeps liked that one.

revalver is fun - very usable even in demo form. peeps say to turn the cabs off and use a better impulse, but I liked several cabs on there a lot.

have you tried freeamp2? it's got a lot of features and fun for low/medium gain stuff - and free! [edit, oops, they're up to 3 now! http://frettedsynth.home.att.net/

Good info ..... thanks! I've also been looking at Native Instruments Guitar Rig 4. Was that in your shoot-out? I guess it would have been Version 3.

never tried guitar rig.

+1 on the line 6 stuff - used in the tourney and fooled me and many others into thinking they were mic'ed amps!

Guitar rig has a demo, try it first. I didn't like it though it's possible to get good tones. If I were you I'd look at the Line6 Toneports or whatever they call them now - best bang for the buck.

I seriously considered the UX-2/POD Farm package just to get the software, but I'm extremely happy with the Tascam US144 MkII interface I finally decided on. It performs exactly as I hoped it would. Now I'm shopping for the amp and effect sims only.

I don't agree with you guys about Studio Devil, I've got the Pro version, and I think it sounds great. Very expressive and responsive. I also like and use AmpliTube, Pod Farm, and some Guitar Rig models. They all have their strengths and weaknesses. But I think Studio Devil is definitely up there on a comparable level. If anyone is interested in any particular sounds, post what you have in mind and I'll try to record a quick clip for you to hear.

And I don't work for nor do I have any financial interest in the company, but I've met the guys who do at NAMM, and they're really nice and very committed to producing a great product.
