Are these real Seymour Duncans?

I purchased a couple of used pickups from a guy on eBay a couple of years ago, they were supposedly an SH-2 and an SH-4. I never got round to fitting them on my guitar and so a few weeks ago I finally decided to try selling them on eBay instead of letting them gather dust on my shelves.

After listing them I got a few queries from people questioning whether they were authentic SDs, as although they are in SD packaging there are no SD markings on them. So I cancelled the bids I'd got and removed them until I could find out for sure that they're real.

I've attached a couple of photos (front and back views), so if anyone could have a look at them and share their thoughts I would be very grateful.

Thanks

Paul

Re: Are these real Seymour Duncans?

The Pics do not look like any duncans I have ever seen. The baseplate is wrong, the conductor is the wrong type for a Duncan, Bobbins do not look right, And the overall quality appears to be lacking.

I've never seen an SD humbucker without an engraved baseplate, but maybe the early ones weren't engraved? You'd think there'd be some kind of identifying mark. :boggled:

Re: Are these real Seymour Duncans?

sorry those are NOT duncans!
looks a lot like some imports though
other than the base plate being the wrong one they do NOT have the extra two hles on the bobbins like ALL duncan buckersd have
here look at the pic you posted

now here is a USA duncan,
SH-4JB.blk.jpg

if you look at the edge of the coils(above the low E screw/stud poles)) you can see the two little holes that shows the wire inside the bobbins

Yeah, the other thing I overlooked is that Seths and Ants don't have the engraved baseplate. :smack:

I was looking at the bottom of a Seth only this afternoon and realised my post was wrong. :naughty:

But, in my defence, those pickups Paul has clearly aren't Seths or Ants. :nervous:

Re: Are these real Seymour Duncans?

hehe not just seths or ants man! older production line ones aren't engraved either!

the John Milner model is just an old jazz pickup - i would be very surprised if you could order a JM as a custom option, AFAIK the two are one and the same..

anyhow, nick picking! lol
