Are you loyal to a brand when it comes to pedals?

How many of you run a board with pedals from a single brand? I know JOLLY runs a lot of MXR pedals but does anyone else?

Presumably pedals from a single brand should all play together very well.

I see a lot of Fulltone stuff I would love to have. I've also considered a lot of MXR pedals. Both brands consistently impress me but I'm not sure if I want a board of a single brand.

Plus no single brand can do everything great... can they?

Re: Are you loyal to a brand when it comes to pedals?

I am not particularly loyal, and I really don't use pedals live.

That being said, I like a lot of EHX's offerings, and I have owned a good deal of them. I have the Hot Tubes, the Wiggler, the Q-Tron +, the Deluxe Memory Man, and an older silver Big Muff. Used to have the newer black Big Muff, but sold it.

Right now I have a pretty big boner for Empress. I own their phaser and it's so nice. Now I want their new Compressor, and possibly the Superdelay. Their stuff's expensive, which means I can't just run out and buy them all, but it's worth it. The fact they're a Canadian company certainly helps.

When it comes to the more affordable brands, I really like what MXR's doing right now. I only own one MXR pedal (Micro Flanger) but I could easily be quite satisfied with an all-MXR board.

no, other than i am a evangelist for timmy

Brand doesn't matter, but the pedal and what it does.....matters.

Re: Are you loyal to a brand when it comes to pedals?

I buy whatever I like. There are so many great pedals from so many manufacturers that I'd rather not have too many from a single manfacturer. I also like a mix of colors as well.

Right now I'm running a compressor, two ODs, a fuzz, an octave pedal, two delays, a trem, and a tuner. Only two are from one manufacturer.

Re: Are you loyal to a brand when it comes to pedals?

I use to have almost only EHX pedals. Now I have Fulltone, Boss, Dunlop, EHX, TCH, and I think my sound is better for it.

whatever sounds the best in the flavor i'm looking for is what i go with! i do have 2 Jetter pedals.

i used to be a Timmy preacher as well...still am...but i ended up liking the Helium Boost better.

Re: Are you loyal to a brand when it comes to pedals?

I'm thinking of making a pedalboard with a Vox Ice 9, a Dunlop Cry Baby, a TC polytune, Dunlop Volume and an MXR Dynacomp. So I don't care what the brand is, I guess.

Re: Are you loyal to a brand when it comes to pedals?

No way, that'd tie me up way too much.

Re: Are you loyal to a brand when it comes to pedals?

I have been, but I don't remember the last time I played a gig through pedals at all. However, I still have my DOD collection, sitting idly by....

Re: Are you loyal to a brand when it comes to pedals?

I'm not a big pedal user, but, I've always loved BOSS pedals.

One advantage to BOSS is that, no matter where you are, you can find them.

That's one of the reasons I love Ernie Ball strings. You can be damn near anywhere, and they are available. It sucks to be out of town, and not have your old reliable tools readily available, should you need a replacement. Once I find something that works, I like to try to stay there. I don't like surprises, especially on stage. (Although, Evan has turned me on to Cleartone strings, but that's for another thread!)

When it comes to my bass pedalboard I'm a bit biased to EBS pedals. They're designed for bass by company specialized in bass gear. The pedals are simple to dial in and the most important, they sound great.

I am a beeeg EHX fan . . . but i will use what ever pedal i need at the time, no matter what brand is printed on the box.

Re: Are you loyal to a brand when it comes to pedals?

Somewhat. I will run a couple from a single source. But over the years I now just have what I have. I dig Boss. Can't hate. They work.

Re: Are you loyal to a brand when it comes to pedals?

The majority are BOSS, mainly because they are ridiculously reliable and tourproof. Anyway, I would not say I'm one-brand. Besides BOSS, I have AMT, EHX, Rocktron, Korg and Dunlop / MXR pedals around. On my present onstage "junkboard" (one day I will post a pic of it) at the moment I have 4 BOSS, 1 AMT and 1 EHX pedals mounted.

Re: Are you loyal to a brand when it comes to pedals?

No... But I do avoid a few brands just because...

I typically play BOSS because they're cheap and do what I need. I have a DS-1, an SD-1, a CS-3, FL-3, but I only use the DS-1 and the CS-3.
I also have a Ibanez Demon Wah, which I'd be happy to get rid of.
That being said, I avoid ALL Ibanez products (although I think I might get along with a Tube Screamer given the chance) not because I had a bad dealing with them, but because I think they're overhyped and too generic. I could be wrong though.

Also, I think I'd love to give the ZVex brand of pedals a shot although I'm sure I'd get lost with all of their versatility.
So... pretty much, BOSS and Zvex. I try not to use a lot of pedals as I want most of my sound to be generic from my fingers > guitar > amp.
