I am in the process of doing some mods on an Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus Top. New bridge and tailpiece (Tonepros) new pups (SD Alnico Pro II's) and I was thinking about a pot, switch, cap, and wiring change also. I've looked at Guitar Electronics, WD, Stewmac, and The Art Of Tone. The Art Of Tone wiring kit is not only the least expensive of the four, but their components seem to be more vintage spec'd and better as well. For under 60 bucks you get four CTS custom spec'd 525K pots 10% tolerance, two NOS .022uf 10% tolerance paper in oil caps, one Switchcraft 3-way toggle, one Switchcraft 1/4" jack, 5 feet of vintage-style braided shielded wire, 1 foot of vintage-style 7 strand pre-tinned 22 awg cloth push back wire. The other 3 companies want 65 to 75 bucks, their pots are 20% tolerance and they offer the .022 Sprague orange drop caps instead of the pio's, not that cap material makes any difference. Does anyone have any advise?
