Not sure who plays them but I own a MIM 72 tele deluxe RI and my son has a MIM strat that I rewired with my am std pups after I put the Jimi '69s in my am std strat. It seems that the build quality is close but using inferior electronics and hardware which is easily remedied. I've seen good and bad MIM and MIA. Way too many variable in building a guitar can turn it into a good or bad instrument.
