Re: ARTs and crafts

Tone? Like plug in a guitar? Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. I’m still trying to understand the programming, control, and signal flow.

Re: ARTs and crafts

I had one of these for a minute at the end of the nineties, got rid of it finally for a Rocktron voodu valve and a behringer fcb1010.

Re: ARTs and crafts

I still use the FCB1010 for one rig I have. With the UnO (non-factory) firmware, it actually does a lot of cool stuff.

Re: ARTs and crafts

I own an Art SGX-2000 and a SGX 2000 Express and I love and use both on different rigs. I use mine on tube clean mode and use pedals for the dirt. I have adjusted all of the programs (eliminated many) lessened the reverbs and some of the effects for more reasonably realistic and useable tones. I won't get rid of these even though I also own a TC Electronics G System and a Nova System. Congrats on your find.

Re: ARTs and crafts

Yeah, they certainly did some things that no other processor could do back then- and even now. I got so used to programming my sounds on a computer and USB-ing it to my Fractal, that I think it would be hard to program on a 2 line LCD.

Re: ARTs and crafts

Once you get used to it, it’s a lot like programming a Theta Casanova — very efficient.

Re: ARTs and crafts

back in the 80s I wanted either an Art or ADA rack setup or evev a rack full of the Rockman modules

Re: ARTs and crafts

I knew a kid in high school who had the full ADA setup. Flying V. Total Randy Rhoads freak. I got to hear him play through it once. It was dark and dripping with reverb. He really had his “Crazy Train” down. It was all amazing to my fourteen-year-old ears.

I’ve always been curious about these:

I've had the ADA setup (both stock & Voodoo modded), and honestly they don't sound all that great. It was nice being able to switch sounds with a single button press, but that's about it. The only standout sound they had was the solid state clean; like a Roland Jazz Chorus but better.

Frank Falbo is a fan of those; I remember him using one of them for some of his youtube vids, unfortunately I can't remember which one(s).
